Well that's good. I use a dipper/regular pot and put the sprues right back in the pot and'll drop small, pre-heated ingots into the pot as needed.
A long time ago, I'd whack the sprue cutter open with a stick but that really slows you down.. another thing to pick up, use, put down and then perhaps try to find the cut sprue/s and drop them in the pot. Now, I use a regular, good quality leather glove on my left hand to cut the sprue, flip it into my already there hand and then drop it into the pot just below. It's pretty fast and efficient.
