Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
Does anyone else Fly-fish the McKenzie? Wife and I fished it for the first time last week... It was great!! About 70% were hatchery fish, but still fun. We took a 3-1/2 to 4 hr. drift boat ride and caught 20+ fish each.
It's on my list. I have heard it is generally not the best river to wade, so I haven't really bothered.
You should try it in march. There is a granom hatch there that produces a large turquoise fly. Go into a shop and ask about fishing the MacKenzie River Caddis. If you tie, elk hair caddis on size 10- 2X hooks should be good. Seems to be a good march and April pattern for the south valley.
I always find myself traveling east or west.
