I know lots of people's opinions are that you should always go aluminum to aluminum and steel to steel, but does anybody have any real world experience of negative effects of aluminum rings to a steel base?

Not looking for Internet conjecture about different expansion rates of metals and such.

Seems to me that if the rings are torqued to spec, should be fine?

Aluminum seatpost in a steel frame, then leave the bike in the rain for 3 years? Yeah you got a problem. Scope rings? No big deal.
