Outside of this, you would have to use the search function at the top right to find the Classified rules and various threads on posting adds and such! With the new version, we lost the guidelines section in the classifieds subforum!

Love the quirky response...really :D

But it was a serious inquiry...

And left without a "Forum guideline" compass to steer by, will assume there are no rules...:s0124:

Easy there, were gonna find ya an answer, we lost the guide when we switched over to this new version and are having a few teething issues! Until we have a working answer, a little good natured "Advice" is expected!

Im the furthest from being a "Douche", you will encounter when dealing with transactions on the intardnet...others here don't appear to be nearly as responsible....hence my query sir.;)
Then you recognize my response as good-natured kibitzing.
I would add, the compass to steer by is honor, which includes obeying federal, state and local laws. In doing that, one rarely comes near any transgression of the rules. Not all comply, but overall, this is a great place to conduct transactions.

You'll do fine here then. I think the basics are to make sure you show location and price in the ad and what your AO for a sale is going to be. Pictures are smart. No thread crapping (I saw xyz new on blah blah for $10 less!). Offers by private message. Clean out your private messages so your inbox doesn't get too full. That, and be on time and easy to communicate with. That covers most of it.

A frequently violated rule is no auctions. Either want to trade with trade interests listed or a want to sell with a price. Some people start with a high price and state that they will consider offers.

A tip for any barrel-burning chamberings (22-250, 300 Win Mag) is to inspect the throat for erosion or have a gunsmith do it so that buyers can understand how much life remains in the barrel. Otherwise those chamberings often sit unsold.

I didn't recognize your response as "Kibitzing".
It appeared you were labeling me the douche.
My apologies for misunderstanding.
I have hundreds of documented "Positive" transactions on several forums and get a bit peaved when my integrity is called into question...and on the same hand get pissed when people l deal with have none...phugging frustrating.

People here are almost exclusively good minded and trying to help fellow gun owners and to respond to the original question the way they (we) read it. I don't see any responses that I perceived as patronizing you. This isn't Arfcom or M4C where people make a sport out of insulting each other.

And now the douche in question has his thread deleted...interesting...
I guess you can get away with being a douche if your connected here...good to know.:D

Dont belong to either of those childish forums. Wouldn't waste my time...

I take it you were hosed or unfairly treated in a transaction. Sorry to hear that. Of my 150+ transactions on this forum, I can say there are only two I would not deal with again. The rest were all stand-up people.

I see what he's talking about now. I don't know that the seller did anything underhanded, but it leaves a lot to the imagination.

Yeah, I went and looked at the Farm Mech post too. T'was a great deal.
There are many sales I have partaken in here where I never posted on the ad, strictly pm'd the seller, and did the deal. Some were hotly pursued too. Why? For the most part, I don't want the general publick to know my purchasing habits.
I think the best way to avoid this: include in the ad the boiler plate words: "I only respond to PMs in the order they were received." But, to require that as a rule is OCD, IMO.

Well thats an interesting take on it...

I guess these days, Integrity...along with all other morals is just "Imagination"...
God save us all.

Did it look funny? Maybe. Is there proof
The seller did anything wrong? No. Did you get screwed? No. I agree, its annoying, but win some, lose some, sometimes it rains.

Are there any here??

Just asking for future reference...;)

Yes there are, see:

1. Members must comply with local, state, and federal laws at all times

It is up to individual members to comply with all laws at all times. Please remember, it is never legal to sell firearms across state lines without the involvement of an FFL.

2. Do not remove information from your ads

You may edit your ads to update information. Do not remove information from your ads (descriptions, photos, price, etc), even if the ad is no longer active.

3. No thread-crapping

Thread-crapping occurs when a member posts negative comments in another members classified ad. If you believe there is a problem with the ad either start a conversation with the seller or report the post for moderation.

4. All want to sell ads are required to have a price

We require all want to sell ads have the price of the item clearly stated. Auction style listings are not allowed.

5. Follow through once you commit to a purchase, sale, or trade

Once you commit to a deal you should do your best to follow through. Members who flake on deals will likely receive negative feedback, which will not be removed.

6. Ads are to be posted only in the classified section of the site

Do not post ads anywhere except the proper classified section.

7. Required fields must be filled out correctly

All required fields must be filled out honestly and correctly with the proper information for each field.

8. Create separate ads whenever possible

Creating a separate ad for each item you have for sale makes it easier for people to find the ad when using the classified filters.

9. You are required to lock your ad once it is no longer active

When a member locks their ad it lets others know it is no longer active and removes it from the list of ads.

10. General questions not specific to an ad should be asked in a discussion section, not within a classified ad

The classified section is not the appropriate place for item discussion. Instead, create a new thread in the appropriate discussion section.

11. Creation of two or more ads for the same item is prohibited

No member is to have more than one ad for the same item at the same time.

12. Creation of fake, comedic, or satirical ads is prohibited

No member is to post an ad for an item they do not actually have for sale or are looking to buy. No member is to post an ad for the purpose of comedy or satire.

13. If you lock an ad and decide to re-post the item, you must wait 7 days

Locking an ad and then re-posting the item within 7 days is prohibited. Members may re-open locked classified ads.

14. All group buys must be approved by the staff before being posted

Group buys are prohibited without express permission from Joe Link.

15. No member may post items in the Great Deals section which they are selling themselves
