Who knows if it was fully or semiautomatic, they don't bother even going into detail except calling it an assault rifle.

Man charged in assault rifle killings of 3 teens
Accused in Chicago attacks was previously acquitted in 2005 fatal shooting

CHICAGO - A man was charged Thursday with first-degree murder in the shootings of three teenagers last week that authorities believe involved an assault rifle. (????)

Martin Ybarra, 20, is accused of killing the three teens in the city's South Side on Feb. 20, said Cook County state's attorney spokesman Andy Conklin.

Ybarra was scheduled to appear before a judge for a bond hearing Friday, said state's attorney spokeswoman Tandra Simonton. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney, and he did not have a telephone listing.

Assault rifle recovered
Ybarra was arrested Tuesday after witnesses and residents came forward, police said in a statement. Police said shells from the shooting indicated an assault rifle was the murder weapon and that an assault rifle had been recovered.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said Johnny Edwards, 13; Kendrick Pitts, 17, and Raheem Washington, 15, died of gunshot wounds.

A police investigation into the teens' deaths continues.

Ybarra previously was acquitted in a fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man in 2005. Officials said that shooting occurred within a block of the latest deaths.

Sounds like Mexican vs Black gang related. Oh well, just another incident they will use to ban firearms for law abiding folks. Don't think that more of these shooters won't come out of the woodwork now that the AG has plans to reinstate the ban. It's almost like they get marching orders and the shooting of innocents begins just before certain votes are due.

Chicago? Aren't guns already illegal in Chicago? A better spin would
be to cite this as an example of why bans won't work.

Seems like any rifle used in a killing is a assault rifle to the anti press these days. South Chicago stinks in many ways past, and present.

Now that would just be too easy and make a bunch of sense for our all knowing government. They have proven over and over and over again they are not interested in the truth, taking care of it's citizens or making things easy for anyone, including themselves.

Well if you want to get technical, any weapon used to assault someone in any way could be considered an "assault weapon." All semantics, really. I don't want to get riled up, though. My "assault keyboard" might offend somebody............ :s0077:....

South Chicago, eh? Saaaaayyy, isn't that where Obama worked so hard to bring up the local citizens? All those years, and all that money, and nothing has changed. Watch, it will continue to worsen, too, as our all-knowing and un-caring herd of monkeys continue to play in the marble zoo alongside the Potomac River. Their thinking runs like this: a guy loses his job due to economic cutbacks and downsizing, aided by outsourcing because the cost of production on US soil has gotten insane. On the way home with his brand new pink slip, he stops by the Cadillac agency and buys a new Escalade, stops by Circuit City, oh, wait, they're gone now, it must have been Best Buy, and gets a 52 inch plasma screen TV to put in the back of that new Escalade...... puts them all on a credit card, and drives home. HONEY-- look what I've got!!!! OOOOhhhhh, NICE. Never mind he's lost the income to pay back the credit cards he's just maxed out to GET the stuff. They'll muddle through somehow....... they think.
