Anyone familiar with the Camp Morrison area?

Read this on another forum:

"Snow peak camp? Im afraid the farthest up I have been is 2 or 3 miles past the big dirt pit everybody shoots in. I sure love it up there, except for the times when the idiot drunks and "thugs" are up there. Dont have a clue how they could have found out about my little slice of shooting heaven.......my dad took me up there when I was little kid and ive been going back ever since!

I usually take 22 out of salem to stayton to kingston jordan rd to albany lions hwy to jordan road to camp morrison drive all the way up the mountain."

My son and I went out yesterday afternoon and went through about 200 rounds. Zeroed in a red dot and scope. Only about 15 minutes outside McMinnville on Baker Creek Road. You follow Baker Creek all the way up in the hills and it turns to a dirt/gravel road (pretty rough in some spots). Found a spot that is clearly used as a target shooting area. Hundreds, if not thousands of spent rounds of all calibers laying around. Tons of real professional targets and several not so professional (bottles, electronics, rotting pumpkins, etc...lol). Several backstops to use and table-high tree stumps for use as equipment benches.

Also, you can hear Baker Creeks Falls down in the canyon. Pretty cool area.

It was just us there and had a blast. Hope this info is useful to those in the surrounding areas.

Cheers...

Large map image zoomed out to get better idea of where it is.

Jones Creek campground on highway 6 going towards Tillamook. go into the campground and keep driving back till you go past a camp site that looks like a coral and then you cross this little bridge going over a stream and take a right up the hill and you see the rock quarry just pull in and shoot. I go about every other week and it is pretty clean no junk being left out there like Browns Camp had, me and my buddies take a couple of buckets with us to clean up any shells and casings that others left behind so we don't lose this place too.

Whos private range? Do you know anymore about this range?

I'm not sure the owner is but I was taken there once by a couple members who I haven't talked to in months. I'll try and see if I can get some more info on it but it's open registration and I want to say it's under $100 a year.

Last I heard is that the shooting range has filled up as far as memberships, but there is an archery range there, and they are looking for members for that. If you sign up for the archery range you have access to the whole place :s0155:

There's a small private range next to the steel mill just past Walmart/Winco.

That would be the Yamhill County Sportsmans Association range.

The other one pretty local is the Chehalem Valley Sportsman Club
range at Dundee. It's behind Crabtree park, about 2.5 miles west
of Dundee. <broken link removed>

I've been a member there for 7 years or so. Nice little range, doesn't
have some of the restrictions that the Sportsmans Association range has.

The range at Crab Tree park is really neat out in Dundee.

I remember another one in Mcminnville that I found in the phone book February of last year. It's out on SW Boothe Bend Road aways but I think it's some guys property that he rents out.

Bill, do you know any of the Fullers?

Ive found a few really cool spots out past cal pac.. Coming from mac go out to cal pac, hang a left at the four way stop at cal pac. go out 7-8 miles till you come to the first LARGE clear cut, one road into the clear cut, BLM roads branch out alll over the place, you can stay right and go down the mountain or stay left and go up the clear cut and shoot skeet off the back side.. there's several very good spots.. If you go up there ignore the first place you see right off the road and to the right, yeah it looks wonderful but I tell you better things await you!!! I just went out the other morning to plink off my new KAHR K9 and I found some new stuff to me.. also I dont know about you but i like grabbin 4 low in the jeep s and there's some fun not so scary trails out there also!! LOL

Hey just to let you guys know, there's a really good, pretty easy to find spot out in grand ronde. It takes about 15 min. From Sheridan. If you take Hwy 18 to Hwy 22 (right before spirit mtn. casino), take a right on Hwy 22, fallow that to Grand Ronde Rd, go right, (there's a little white church on the corner), follow that rd almost to the end (there's a tiny bridge at the end) and take a right on the only PAVED rd.. There's a big white sign about a hundres feet down that rd with a map on it and some indian stuff. About a mile and a half down on the right is a huge gravel pit, you can't miss it! Its a great place! Email me with any questions. [email protected]
