If you already have the Upper that you are going to use in the "build" then take it with you when you go shopping for a lower. You can then check fit and see if the various "lines" match. Can also get an idea of how loose a fit you will get from upper to lower.
+1 on not shopping at Sam's. They need a change of ownership, followed quickly by a change in staffing. It's hard to get the feeling from their current staff that they give a care about you spending your money there. They like to make you feel like you're doing them a favor.
