I like mine ......

My EDC is a Kershaw Blur S30V. It's a good knife, and the speedsafe assist is handy. However, of I'm going somewhere new and am not sure if there will be security screening I will swap it out for a cheap folding knife.

So I haven't seen anything yet on how you might want to carry it, what style appeals to you (OTF, folding, auto-open folding, w/pocket clip or w/out)

You live in Oregon City, just down the hill from Benchmade. They make excellent knives and will fix/replace any knife of theirs for free.

I have used a MicroTech OTF for many years. It broke at one point and they created a new knife for me out of their 'parts drawer' bc they no longer made my knife.

Go to the Sportsman's Show if you can, there will be knife-maker booths there.

I carry mine everyday and use it for everything from opening letters & packages to a light pry bar to weed digger etc. Everyday life! Have carried pocket knives for work for most of 40 years. I can travel w/out my watch, but never my knife.

I wouldn't buy a benchmade personally:

Nothing wrong with spyderco but I sold my high end spyderco because Civivi D2 held an edge much better. Also the hollow grind is amazing compared to the flat grind of the spyderco. EDC is only Civivi for me now.
I mean... helping destroy firearms isn't an issue in and of itself, the reason they are being destroyed matters.

Anyway, Benchmade is fine. They make great production knives for reasonable prices, generally speaking.

They will also sharpen it and clean up anything they can on it. I got my mine into some gunk and they were able to carefully clean it ( it was beyond what I could do) and they will sharpen it while you wait!

It was the way they did it and either put it out on Social Media or allowed it out. It was as if they were proud of it and again it was a case of failing to "read the room" BIG TIME. They are paying for it now and for a good while. One of the problems with doing something like this for them is they are FAR from being the only high end, well made knife producer. So it was and still is easy for those who want a good, USA made knife, to chose someone else. As seems to often happen people in charge seem blind to what should be common sense when it comes to what they put out to the media. Bud was a spectacular example of this as was the NFL.

I have many EDC knives of various brands and cost ranges…

I bought a Gerber Sumo to try and use as a 'work knife', Ie one I could beat up and not cry if it broke.

Once I got a feel for the reverse finger "spidy' flip to open it, it has turned into my work and my daily carry (almost exclusively).

It is vey much at the bottom of the price range I have in knives but the one I generally carry.

I have fairly large hands so I like a little larger knife and I think in a lot of ways, that is what makes or breaks a knife for a person - fit.

It is the only knife I have ever bought a second one, just to have the second color and because they aren't expensive. The first one with the lighter scales and blue liners came much less stiff then the darker one with the red scales and the one I haven't carried yet so I haven't tuned it up at all yet..

For $32-37 (I think I paid about $24 on them on a sale and 2 years ago) on Amazon I highly recommend it as a nice medium large knife. The handle is not huge but the blade is a coot size and shape. Keeps a decent edge for quite awhile and once re-sharpened will keep a very sharp edge for a very long times without abuse. Mine showed up very sharp.

Good Luck!

***Oh, and it has the axis lock on it.
Follow up to add I just bought a third one as a gift for a good friend that carry's a knife but isn't someone I would call a 'Knife Guy'. I sent him the above pic and said the darker one has red liners and the lighter one has blue. He said red is my color, so I ordered that for him.

Im going to keep it in the original blister package it comes in and if it needs some fine tuning to open nicely I will deal with it then. Or let him fidget it into smoothness.

Been carrying it for years and it comes razor sharp.

I carried a Buck 110 for over 40 years, because there wasn't anything much better.
But never liked having to use a belt pouch.
Now I'd never carry any knife I couldn't open with one hand, and if I'm going to have a belt pouch it'll be to carry a Leatherman.
Now the only 110 I have stays in the kitchen for opening plastic food wrappings where its skinny stainless blade is well suited for that work.

+1 on the Leatherman! A good multitool with even just a decent knife will still outshine the best pocketknife (unless your EDC needs literally only require cutting stuff all day).

If I were to just carry a pocketknife, I like the Buck 112 and 110 Slim Select models. These are like "modernized" versions of their classic folders; glass filled nylon handles, thumb-stud for one hand opening, and a pocket clip. 420HC from Buck is actually a solid blade steel that is very easy to maintain.

It's not the fanciest or coolest suggestion, but considering these usually cost less than $50, are made in the USA, and will accomplish 99% of daily EDC cutting needs, you can't go wrong!

It completely depends on what you want to pay for your knife. I've got a Benchmade Infidel, and they're wonderful knives. For my EDC, many years ago I bought one of these from Columbia River Knife and Tool (CRKT). Got it at Bi-Mart for about $40.00, IIRC. Thought was it's cheap enough that if it got lost or broken it wouldn't be the end of the world. Great knife, snaps open nicely, keeps a good edge. Love mine, easy to recommend:

^ this and the Kershaw Leek are my two top picks. I've carried the Leek for years, though if I'm gonna be chopping cardboard to make boxes I'll switch over to a Milwaukee folding box knife
