It's equally as important to thank your senators when they do the right thing as it is to let them know how we want them to vote. Obama said in his post-vote speech that we need to let our Senators know that we'll remember how they voted come election time. I agree, but let's make sure the Senators hear the correct message. Send them a tweet, phone call, e-mail, or fax. Tell them thank you. The Huffington Post is upset, and they want their readers to get angry at senators who voted against the background checks bill. They have a convenient list for us to use here: Here Are The Twitter Handles Of The Senators Who Voted No On Background Checks Bill Phone and fax numbers for all senators here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Au-1QwI2WAoydDNUdnc4RE0tVlJHUVZQMUlPSXM3TEE#gid=0 Websites and other info here: U.S. Senate Contact Information | Congressional Listings, Phone Numbers, Addresses, 113th Congress For those who don't want to click the HuffPo link, here is a convenient list of the senators who stood up for our rights. I would say if you're going to only thank a few, thank the Democrats - they are going to be pressured by their party leadership, and need to be reminded that they did the right thing. (If you're the donating type, send at least a small amount (I sent $5 to each that has an election donation site,) their way as well, and say so in your letter to them.)
I guess that means we must be their "47%" (i.e. people that they don't have to worry about because we'll NEVER vote for them) BTW the NRA is selling lifetime memberships for $300 right now. https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/signup.asp?campaignid=cheaperthandirttv Even if you sign up for that good deal you could still donate any time you wanted to in the future, so don't let the low price stop you. Also at my work for the company giving campaign, the NRA is actually one of the available groups to donate to - so look into that at your job also.
I think we should also appropriately "thank" our two D-bag State Senators from Oregon for their votes as well...
Yeah, I even got letters from Wyden's office stating that he would stand for the Second Amendment. So he is now absolutely the worst kind of scum...A blatant liar.
