I'm honestly surprised that nobody has tried to throw 1911s into it. Unless you're Tex Grebner. :D

I was going to yesterday but decided to hold off, then you went and it brought up. So, repent sinners:

I don't subscribe to that channel, nor will I click to watch. It just seems to me there are an awful lot of excuses as to why the 320 keeps going off but I haven't caught any stories of other similar issues recently with any other manufacturer. Each time a story pops up about the 320 there are some that come to the rescue with every reason why it went off besides the possibility of a defective firearm design.
Let's pollute the issue with some facts shall we. The Washington DC police department is currently staffed at 3,501 sworn officers from what I have found. In the 1980s, it was likely considerably smaller knowing how government works but I can't find an exact stat. Let's leave it a 3,500-ish. The Milwaukee, WI department is currently at 3,807, roughly the same size (but still betting much larger that DC in the 80s).

I've mentioned this prior, DC police averaged one ND per month for 10 years...with GLOCKS, not Sigs. Why do we only hear about the three Sig NDs from Milwaukee and not about the dozens of others they should be having? My bet is that they are not happening. Because today we have social media and constant news...which saved Glock in the 1980s (I'm not saying there was anything wrong with Glock btw).

Washington Post, 1998

In the 10 years since D.C. police adopted the Glock 9mm to combat the growing firepower of drug dealers, there have been more than 120 accidental discharges of the handgun. Police officers have killed at least one citizen they didn't intend to kill and have wounded at least nine citizens they didn't intend to wound. Nineteen officers have shot themselves or other officers accidentally. At least eight victims or surviving relatives have sued the District alleging injuries from accidental discharges.

What your post screams is, "I'm not going to bother to educate myself (by watching a short video) but let me join in to disparage a gun company; I'm sure the anti-gun people love the help from our side. I don't own a Sig. I seek the truth. Some of the posts I've seen here and in other places border on defamation and are reckless. If there is clear evidence that there is an issue with the 320, I'll be all over Sig about it. This is just not the case IMHO, at least yet.

Is P320 discharging uncommanded ?
No.
Is P320 a defective design ?
No.
Is P320 in civvie form a good pistol for police work ?
One could argue, no.
I agree with this, but (as I'm sure I've tired many of you with) I think you can make this argument that SF guns, without safeties can present an issue for law enforcement work. Trigger activation is the overwhelming cause of all guns going off unintentionally. Manual (thumb) and grip safeties make this nearly a non-issue when used. Would DC police have had 120 NDs over 10 years if Glocks had manual safeties (not saying they should)? No.
Trigger pull weight on SF guns are approaching (or less than) many stock 1911s.

Law enforcement work is not a sterile environment. You roll around on the ground, stuff gets in your holster, they break, WMLs come off, but the same holster gets used, and the option for Sig holsters is much smaller than for Glocks...there are MANY other factors in these events. I've personally seen police gear horribly maintained. I've had officers hand me shotguns because they did not know how to unload them properly (as in their duty shotguns). I've had two new holsters (gun specific) in the past few years that deactivated my manual safety. Is it a stretch to think that there could be an issue with a trigger manipulation as well with some?

no Glock owner is going to admit the rise in NDs is due to safetyless guns and having a scapegoat validates this elephant in their closet is dead. Like the Glock the Sigs cant go off unless the trigger is pulled.

Are we really going back to the external safety vs internal safety argument and how external safeties magically eliminate NDs….. yawn.

Full circle.

Might as well add open carry vs concealed carry, SF pistols vs DA pistols, 9mm vs .45, .40 sucks, blah blah blah.

How about carry with what you're comfortable with and put as much time into training as we do bickering over dumb sh!t online.

Well even if a few 320 owners are just a little more aware of it that's a good thing. Safety is always good to discuss.

All I know is we cant blame the gun until all the external forces have been eliminated, and thats not the case with this story.
Until then fair jabs at the many more Glock NDs being swept under the rug.

Then fair jabs at the 320 right?

Safety of a firearm, modifications, hair triggers, poor holsters, poor training/technique, etc bumps up the likelihood of a negligent discharge.

The average individual is more likely to have a ND with certain platforms over others. Not saying it's the platforms fault. But that doesn't mean it's for everyone depending on their competence.

Stupidity can't be regulated. Let natural selection take its course. Unfortunately bistanders and innocents will be affected. It's part of life.

SIG weighs in on Montville PD UD incident :

Good info thx for posting that. I didn't realize holster had a hood. Does anyone know what holster this is? Seeing the holster by itself would tel us a lot. From that one pic I posted earlier it almost looks like the part that holds the gun has a bit of a fold in it as if it were made of elastic. But photo quality is so poor it could just as easily be kydex with the apparent "fold" built in

This article seems to say that this safariland holster was used. Apparently they stopped making the holster due to AD when cop was struggling with a perp. We need more info on the holster imo. Who knows if this was the holster he used cuz it could have been implied to generate views even.
