Well I took my tack driver and swapped out it's USO LPVO for this EO combo. In the past it has seemed that most optics I've bought are set a 0-0 , and are damn close to being zeroed when I mount them. I've never seen a need for a bore sight before, but here I am. As first mounted it shot 2' to the left, and 2' low at 25 yards - it took me forever to figure out where it was shooting! Now after what seem like dozens of turns of the windage screw I'm in a line with my target, but have run out of patience with elevation - I'm still 18" low. Could this be mounted wrong, or do these things have such fine adjustments that 40-50 turns doesn't sound unreasonable? Obviously I need something quicker that won't waste so much ammunition. I don't have a laser bore sight, and would rather not have to drive 250 miles to go get one (and back). Suggestions?

Your sight is a counterfeit...and probably won't hold zero on a firearm. You may not even be able to zero it on a firearm.

Aha! Thanks. That makes this the 2nd counterfeit from op. I bought 2 Lupoild sights from them 2 weeks apart, the 2nd one was very different than the real one. After I get my refund I'm going to mark them off my list. I've been getting counterfeit items from what were in the past legitimate retailers. I hate GOTCHA capitalism. I had to stop dealing in guitars because I got Chinese fakes from legitimate distributors. The Chinese make 15 fake Gibsons to every real Gibson off the line in the USA, and don't even get me started with Fender, and PRS. But I digress. Thanks for your sharp eye.

The "O" in Eotech is wrong and I cannot find an image where "For Law Enforcement Only" is printed anywhere unless Eotech does not depict that online.

Yah, apparently they did say that around the time a sample was procured. Eotech probably changed that just to screw with the counterfeiters. It appears solidly made, and the packaging was quite elaborate. It functions as intended, however if it won't hold zero it's useless. Luckily OP will give me a refund, and an embarrassed sounding sorry letter. It appears counterfeits have been injected very early in the supply line where once it was individuals on eBay, now they seem to be injecting container sized loads before they ever get to US distribution. It's like trying to cook something based on a single photograph, the Chinese counterfeit guitars were often beautiful, but couldn't intonate for crap. Glad I can get a refund. I bet soon the GOTCHA people figure out how to stop that.

I don't use laser bore sights any more, but laser bore sight has gotten me on paper, only once did it ever work out to be nearly perfect . I didn't believe it, so wasted bullets readjusting and then getting back to where i begun. Eventually I found out the best way was initially @ 25 yards to get on paper, adjust according to the range predicted zero windage and Hight according to Arc I wanted for the ammo I was using, and a couple more rounds to fine tune it at the final range wanted, generally, this method uses less then ten rounds to perfect. Generally.

Update: Apparently op is aware of this situation, gave me a refund and doesn't want this back. I'm going to attempt to use the magnafyer, as it appears to work, and I'm going to disassemble the sight and see a) how it works, and b) see if I can fix it. Anyone interested in seeing what's inside?

Glad that Optics Planet made it right for you. I used to buy quite a few items from them. Good FYI on the Chinese injections of fake stuff into relatively big retailers.

You know, this looks and feels legit enough that if I hadn't had trouble zeroing it in I'd probably have never known it was fake. I was impressed at how bright and clear it was with sharply defined rectical (circle/circle/3 elevation dots) in red or green. The brightness adjustment was perfect. It problem seems to be that the elevation adjuster isn't connected. Now IDK if that's because it's broken, or it it was assembled wrong, or if it's just a bad design. Just like some of the counterfeit guitars were exceptional looking, but couldn't intonate for bubblegume.
