I met him years ago; maybe 1998.

He was standing out front of his hotel; waiting on a cab to sing at an opera house....in Ravenna, Ohio.

I got to tell him thanks for his part in Gomer Pile.

I watched every show; it had a profound effect on me; influenced me to take the military life.

Yeah I know; it bugged me back then, there were lots of jokes...

Funny thing when I seen him, he was wearing lots of makeup; I looked at him awkwardly; he knew what I was thinking and said the makeup was for the opera.

Only seen a few celebrities in my travels; Suzanne Summers, Robert Urich, Richard Kiel, so seeing Gomer was OK.

Great voice , funny actor and from what I have read a genuine nice guy....
As for what he did in his bedroom , it was none of my business ...and doesn't change my opinion of him.

I met him in passing in a posh restaurant in Hawaii (I have family there) around 20 years ago. What a super nice guy.

I was a huge Gomer Pyle fan, watched every episode of reruns they did! My Grand parents had every record he ever made, and I have that collection now. Man, that guy could sing!
Will miss him!
