My grandson found this when using his Christmas medal finder. It looks like a projectile for a munition. Anyone know what this is? Is it safe?

It doesn't look like any kind of munition I have seen. Is it ferrus or nonferrous ? Where was it found?

This is ferrous, all rusted except for the very tip on the nose. It was found alongside the street/road in the town of Estes Park, Colorado.

Plumb Bob? I'm leaning toward the drill chuck idea though.

I go with the plumb bob suggestion. Vintage ones have a brass tip.

Looks like some of the Morse taper or possibly a plumb bob. It is 4 inches long. Doesn't appear to have any moving parts like a drill chuck. Base has a retaining ring. Thanks for all the suggestions.

This object is a perfect candidate for the battery charger rust removal method.

Depleted uranium penetrator perhaps? Check the radiation levels. Does it glow in the dark?

Another vote for a plumb bob. That or the space modulator. Marvin is always losing his.
