Yep, that was a good time Mike, was a pleasure to meet you and Jane.
I used to be more active back in those days and miss doing those cleanups on a whim.
The reason I don't do the spring cleanups is due to the cold and wet weather, just can't function in it anymore.
Y'all have fun and thanks to all who are carrying on the tradition. :s0155:
Those cold mornings in the boat going for winter steelhead, or springers would have hurt. Conveniently those run are pretty trashed so you won't be missing a heck of a lot. And it doesn't seem likely that those days will ever come back the way the they run our states fish and game depts.

Didn't this used to be you? ... :s0140:

True that, sure ain't catchin no more, it's just fishin. I am pretty good at finding Landlocked coho and Kokanee though. That's all I really target anymore.

I'm not a Bumble… I'm Santa (Kris Kringle)… just got trimmed up to handle that 80°+ weather in Florida

Dang this is going to be a big group! 30 signed up, 4 cancelled and 3 more just signed up. Then we always get a lot who don't sign up. So, I'm expecting 40-45. That will be great! We can send a crew up the road to the next shooting pit and spiff that one up too. I'll be able to grab 2-3 'Mountain Goat' type guys to help me winch that refrigerator up the stumpy-rocky hillside.

It's been a long day of prep, (event trailer, supplies, pressure washer, food, tools, emails, errands, and phone calls), but I'm finally ready to roll early tomorrow.

We're about to have a great time!

The Arrowhead Pit Cleanup went well, even with a dusting of snow in the morning. It made for a slow start, but we didn't shy away from it. And we even got that refrigerator and a hidden commercial cooking grill!

Lots of photos to share, but too many to post separately, so they're all in the Blog post on the Trash No Land website.

Thanks to @Zingularity for prompting this event! It was well worth it and so very needed!

We had about 12 people join our Trash No Land group. The other 48 people dispersed to other areas (and many of them cleaned mostly target shooting sites. Our group got 2 areas, plus a disgusting old freezer full of rotten meat. YUK! Our first spot was a huge mess that included household refuse dumped, tires and lots of shooting debris. But now it's in great shape once again.

Elsewhere, a shot up abandoned pickup truck was dragged out to the roadway where DNR can get it hauled off (video in the comments on TNL's Facebook page). Lots of stuff happened all over the forest yesterday and it was all good. Still hearing about other's adventures.

Next up is North Fork Wolf Creek shooting lanes, May 17th. I'll be posting details soon. It'll be a great time!

Tracy and I made it up Neal Creek for a little clean-up this morning. Other than a quick look last weekend it has been almost 4 months since we last been up there. This was our first solo clean-up this year since my cancer surgery and all the complications. Having lost 27 pounds I thought we could start with 3 to 4 bags and not get into the big stuff. The Weyco quarry was more than well used. We piled up the big wood chunks and was tired by the time we got the 4th bag full so we stopped. Still a lot to do but that will be another day. We drove the loop and picked up 4 more bags. Tried to put a smoldering tire/furniture/pallet bon fire with puddle water. Some people. Interestingly somebody shot off 100+ rounds by the road of the quarry we just cleaned. Another 50 or so shotgun shells and more brass. Fun day to get out. Looked for antlers also but no luck. This will help get me back in shape. 1000005188.jpg 1000005185.jpg 1000005184.jpg 1000005182.jpg 1000005181.jpg

We're loaded for Wolf! (Wolf Creek Shooting Lanes, that is)!!!

This Saturday 5-17-25. Tillamook State Forest. North Fork Wolf Creek Rd. Meet at Lane 3 @ 9AM. There's still time to sign up for the cleanup (link below).

No need to bring a lunch, as Robert Hollister, of Farmers Insurance - Beaverton, is providing that (THANK YOU ROBERT!!!). We will have pop-up canopies to dine under in case of rain.

Restroom provided!

Tools... I have several trash pickers, magnets, rakes, trash bags and a few extra gloves. If you have any of those, please bring them (except the trash bags... I have plenty).

You might want to bring your rain gear, just in case it rains. As of Thurs afternoon, the Timber Oregon forecast for Saturday 9 AM to 1 PM, is for 70-85% precipitation, and temps in the mid 50's with minor wind. But we're pretty used to that!

See you then!

Huge THANK YOU to all who came!

Great to see everyone again. Great lunch. Special Thank you to the church group that helped clean lane 4. Your attitude and willingness to help is what team work is about.

They were fun! I sent an email to one of them, (the only one who put down an email address), so I hope they share it with the group. They were a nice surprise!
