They can claim whatever they like - the law won't change because of that. Same goes for Sheriffs.

actually reservations can choose to ignore federal laws they dont wish to adopt. as far as sheriffs, they can choose not to enforce laws but that doesnt mean the city police wont be coming to bust heads.

They claim to be sovereign all the time yet when the majority of their "income to the nation" comes from Federal $$$ hard to take a stand if they want to keep getting that money. Feds use that tactic all the time with the states also. Want Fed $$$ follow Fed rules........

As noted by Nwcid.....the amount of Federal dollars going into the reservations is high......so to maintain that Federal funding they more or less have to abide by Fereral law

Interesting concept. 'Our religious heritage encourages respect for our warriors and their weapons' blah blah. Kinda like Sikh knives. Yeah I know we didn't always have AR's (be a good Twilight Zone episode tho) but we've been using em since Viet Nam.

resevations are not required to but may be pushed to.as far as states or sheriffes go when they made med pot ok in ca the dea would watch all growers, suppliers,clinics let them build up for a year or so then raid take all $ all cars all realastate then leave charges up to the county since it wasent against county law da drops charges feds keep every thing you ever owned
