Since I recently moved to Kommiefornia I have yet to fine gainful employment. That said I decided to watch the peaceful transfer of power Friday, particularly looking forward to the parade....I mean who doesn't like the pipes and drums and bands playing martial airs?

Anyway I saw lots of M1 Garands and 03 Springfields. I also noted the Navy Honor guardsmen had Garands with short bayonets compared to the Army and Marine Honor guardsmen with mostly 03s. I am wondering if the Navy Garands were the .308 version?

Also, what a beautiful sight the 1,504 VMI cadets with what looked like full size wood furniture M1As were at the end of the parade.:D Very impressive marching for that many cadets. And were those Army 105s doing the 21 gun salutes? A very good day to be an American.
