Since I recently moved to Kommiefornia I have yet to fine gainful employment. That said I decided to watch the peaceful transfer of power Friday, particularly looking forward to the parade....I mean who doesn't like the pipes and drums and bands playing martial airs?
Anyway I saw lots of M1 Garands and 03 Springfields. I also noted the Navy Honor guardsmen had Garands with short bayonets compared to the Army and Marine Honor guardsmen with mostly 03s. I am wondering if the Navy Garands were the .308 version?
Also, what a beautiful sight the 1,504 VMI cadets with what looked like full size wood furniture M1As were at the end of the parade.
Very impressive marching for that many cadets. And were those Army 105s doing the 21 gun salutes? A very good day to be an American.
