Dunno if you need Goretex pants, or not.

If you do, mayhaps consider surplus?

These are REALLY decent quality, and at $25, are a good deal:

They're out of the matching field top ATM, unfortunately.

Great heavy duty rain wear.

Layer light when working hard even in a chill, or you'll sweat heavily. That can be really bad news. Bring along extra loft for your core for when not working. Like a puff vest/puff sweater/thicker fleece etc + decent insulating cap (fleece / wool).

Noisy? For sure instead of a soft shell. No where near as "bad" as a brand new set tho.

Mind, we don't hunt (yet), but would have zero qualms about taking these out when we do. Should the conditions warrant.

Mind there ship time, give them about a week to 10 days. Dunno when you all plan to head out.

When I worked for Air Life of Oregon, I was outside with people a lot and had a Columbia goretex coat with the removable plush lining... I love that coat but the nylon outer coat is too noisy for the woods!!

When I was building houses, I wore Carrhart jackets or cheap knockoffs. I do NOT wear the brown models in the woods as the color looks just like the rear end of an elk!

Second that -- no brown in the woods unless you are feeling super lucky

I really appreciate the input from everyone. I think (if I can get the wife on board) I'll just go with 2 jackets.
If I had the money to burn, I'd go with some fancy camo patterns, but having 2 kids on (currently) one income, that's a laughable thing to think about (ask my 3 ar "builds" sitting in the safe)

I mainly want something quiet that will keep me dry and safe. I've got a sportsmans near by and enjoy dragging the wife to cabelas (like a form of torture I suppose)

I bought this and love it.

$90 from Gamehide, Amazon sells it too.

DO NOT go up in one size. They run big.

I would recommend to take a look st Kuiu. I have a few of their clothings items from rain gear to insulation to base- there fabrics are amazing!
The rain jacket I have had about 6 years and it is as good as the day it was new- takes heavy downpours, is light, quiet, moves with you and actually breathes. The fabric withstands actual use- doesn't snag, briars brush over it, etc. Only downside is the price- at the $300 mark I hate to get it dirty... but it takes it

One of the best rain coats out there, order the fleece liner as well and you'll be happy.

Yep, your basic operator's parka. I have two.

Long lasting waterproofness which you can enhance yearly with a good DWR application.

For "most", if you want the matching pants, get them one size smaller.

I go with baselayer, midlayer approach.
