Actually, I like your idea. A new war between the states, with the Prius driving metrosexuals vs the obesity epidemic-ridden red -staters. Unfortunately, in this case the red-state real men would have to do without the Federal tax funds they now live off, imported from the more productive liberal states with actual economies. What would I do?

Make service mandatory for citizenship.

No citizenship means no government assistance (whatsoever). No rights to vote and no rights for government aid (i.e. Social Security, Welfare, Food Stamps, etc.).

Service means anything of service for your city, county, state or country. Obviously a color blind diabetic can't fight a war but he can pick up trash on the street. Someone in a wheelchair can answer a phone and keep logs for a court. Everyone can serve and it should be mandatory to obtain citizenship status; however, not everyone living in the US should have to serve. It's just my opinion...sick of supporting welfare, anchor baby illegals that do nothing for this country except burn taxpayer money. Nevertheless, I've seen (firsthand) people coming to America, serving their country to obtain citizenship status and being a productive member of society. Why should our dying veterans be guilted into self-euthanization to save money while others are encouraged to kick out kid after kid to remain on government assistance? This is the only way I actually see us saving Social Security and actually giving aid to those that need and deserve it. Can a pregnant woman work? Ask my mother who pulled two jobs, one as a waitress and another as an assembly worker while being pregnant with my oldest brother.

Women like her are who raise product members of society....not gun-totting thugs destined for the court system.

Anyhoot, back on topic...make service mandatory to gain citizenship status. Citizenship status is then revoked for any major crimes (murder, kidnapping, sexual assault). Only those with citizenship status receives government assistance (welfare, medicare, social security). Service has to be no less than 3 years in any type of service (police, military, garbage compactor, bus driver, etc.).

Clambo, You do seem a little over the top, but I think I'm gonna have to side with you on this one. You have pretty much already solved the oil supply problem, so we can let that one go for now.

With regard to nuking a city, I would suggest we start with Tehran. Then maybe Kabul and the Tribal Areas of Afghanistan. Possibly Islamabad too. After that, we'll see. We have a lot of nukes, so if we get it wrong a few times, we'll still have plenty of them.

You left some folks out of the equation. Russia for one. Somebody is going to have to sit down with Putin. He can decide to be our buddy and profit, or he can decide to be a hardass and lose it all. I'm sure China would love to get their mitts on all of those Russian natural resources. Our so-called economic partners in the rest of the world will need to understand that there is a new sheriff in town too.

I like the US southern border idea. It'll probably work just fine. When we get out of the idiotic wars we are currently in, we'll need something for the armed forces to do and the border fits the bill exactly. The war on terror will be over instantly as any country that sends people to the US to cause harm would very quickly become a radioactive ashtray.

The UN would politely be asked to leave the United States and graciously be given 24 hours in which to get that done.

Imported goods would be subjected to stiff tariffs again. The incentive being that American goods could be created here again using American resources and American labor. It may take a while to get used to the new supply chain and prices may need some adjustment, but Americans are tough. Walmart would need to get used to the idea that they will be selling American made stuff instead of the Chinese crap they are currently peddling.

We'll need to cut out the war on drugs and just legalize drugs. That means dismantling the current prison system and converting it to a place where criminals go (not potheads). Save us a bunch of money that way.

One last thing; The Patriot Act gets tossed out. American citizens aren't the enemy. If the government can't figure that out, then we'll need a new government.

I for one would like to see some consistency in foreign policy. For example, why condemn Russia's backsliding on democracy, human rights record, and call them the #1 geopolitical foe, all the while pouring billions of dollars into, and not saying a single harsh word about Saudi Arabia, the UAE, etc despite these regimes being entirely more totalitarian, having human rights records more dismal than anyone other than North Koreans can imagine? Enough of this pretending to care about democracy abroad, it has been said that people deserve their governments, so let other countries figure their own crap out; I think there are better uses for our money than spending countless millions trying to subvert the Russian government, or countless billions (perhaps trillions) trying to buy the favor of the OPEC dictatorships that pretty much seek only to bleed us dry.
