For myself, I don't use the ammo, unless I can't escape. Sometimes if I'm carrying a revolver, one cylinder and one speed loader is all I take.just enough to guarantee me an escape from the situation.
Yeah most folks don't carry extra ammo/mags as it adds more weight and or bulk. I am a little different and usually carry at least two backup mags.I feel comfy using ASP's guidance on not really needing more than single mag 17 unless ur LEO so thats what i tend to shoot for. At the point where im taking less ammo im running a smaller gun and unlikely to want to conceal more
Preach it. I once saw Barnaby Jones blow up a speeding sedan with one shot from his .38 so you're in good company.I use a .38 sp for my EDC and I don't normally carry extra rounds. It's about shot placement, and the jury's opinion. I believe it will help mitigate any mad dog looking for a fight persona that a young prosecutor may try to influence a jury to project on to me.
my father was LEO/MIL when I was growing up, one of his friends told a story about himself and another non-LEO (think Park Ranger type) were the only ones to clear a table of 7 bowling pins in 30 seconds. They were the only ones carrying wheel guns, the rest all semi-autos.Preach it. I once saw Barnaby Jones blow up a speeding sedan with one shot from his .38 so you're in good company.
Have no fear for the national gear is in charge lol.I've been keeping 2 extra mags on me as of yesterday and will continue to do so until I'm sure the Portland shinanagins aren't spilling over into Vancouver.
EDC has 12+1, statistically that is more than enough...but I have friends that carry an extra mag and there is nothing wrong with that.I'm wondering how much extra ammo, if any, you guys carry with you on your normal average every day outings besides what's loaded, obviously? Just going to the store. Or just running random errands on your days off of work. I guess I am also curious if everybody takes their firearm with them to work and obviously leaves it locked up in the car or if you don't bother bringing your firearm with you when you drive to work? And I am also wondering how safe is it to store any extra ammo that you might bring with you on errands or to sit in your car while at work on these hot days? Thanks in advance for your insights.![]()
Depends on the motivations of the aggressor. Someone trying to make a quick buck from theft will want to stay alive to spend it, so they're more likely to run away when confronted with force. Someone motivated by hatred, anger, etc is less likely to be deterred by their victim using force because the driver of their behavior isn't logical, it's emotional.Doesn't seem like reloads are necessary because every YouTube video of shootings as soon as bullets start to fly the bad-guys scatter like roaches. It would be just my luck to come up against the one bad-guy who DOESN"T watch YouTube videos.![]()
