"Over half of WA gun owners "took a knee" and did not even bother to vote. Unless that changes, the progressive gun confiscation program will roll on and on until no citizen of WA can legally own a revolver."

I don't know if this stat is true, but if it is, then it is likely the same number in Oregon, an possibly other northwest states.

Apathy is a (the) problem to solve.

Source?

From some of the stats I saw a few days ago, it was ~47% of registered voters didn't return a ballot, which equates to roughly 2M voters.

So if roughly half of those were republicans/conservatives, more than enough to have defeated 1639. But they couldn't be bothered to spend the 5 minutes to fill out their ballots. These will be the same types of folks who'll be 'outraged' when they 'discover' can't just walk into a gun shop and buy a 10/22 anymore.

We're 0-3. Proactive 2A efforts need to start, NOW. Throwing $20 at the NRA from the sidelines isn't going to cut it anymore.

We see gun owners all the time come here and ask if they can sell a gun without a background check now?

So if they don't know now. They didn't hear about this before it became a law?
That means they didn't vote to stop this from happening. o_O

I made sure all 5 voters in my house returned and all voted no. I know this because I witnessed and also dropped them all off as a group directly to the courthouse box. I didn't want any hanky panky lose the ballots type thing. And I have a hard time believing the numbers as the count went.

From my understanding King County sealed WA fate on 1639. We had a problem in Oregon where we got drowned out along with spiteful flip voters and others who just didnt bother.

Because of this slip the damage has been done and now our state holds a super majority eager to get into 2019 and cause more infringement. Unfortunately i feel that we are rather slow to the get up because not a lot of people are informed or really care until its too late to reverse course.

Complacency kills and ignorance is bliss.

Another problem i feel locally in state is that we dont try to defend the 2A until its currently under attack like we did with IP43/44. We did stop it but we havent done much to ensure we get something put in place to block future attempts beyond throw more money at NRA/OFF etc. There is IP8 but thats waiting for later ballot (maybe).

Too little too late...

I voted however:

King, Pierce, the South end of Snohomish and the north end of Thurston County
control the entire state politically.
It's been that way for decades, every body knows it and has gotten so frustrating
for conservatives that the area east of the Cascades has threatened to form a new state.
Like that is going to happen. I have a Unicorn for sale if you want it.
I-1639 is holding at 60%. You could get every conservative in the state to vote and you'd still lose.
But I still vote because it's so much fun to beat my head against the wall of snowflakes living in and around Seattle.

IMHO, the grassroots efforts were pretty darn good...you'd have to have gone out of your way or be ultra oblivious to have not noticed all the No signs that were posted.

There are just alot of folks that will NOT get involved...either through denial (that'll never happen!), fear (don't want to wind up on a 'list'), good ol' apathy, flat out laziness, or other reasons.

Gun control groups that study this stuff know this, and are striking while the environment is in their favor, knowing full well WA, mostly King Co., is prime territory to advance their goals. They know that if they can get things made 'illegal' it'll likely be years, if ever for it to be overturned. And if they can start mandatory turns for destruction...once destroyed...you'll most certainly never get it back.

But midterm elections are water under the bridge. The question is it possible to turn it around? If so, how? If not, what's the plan? Because with Dems now solidly in control in Olympia, it is most likely going to get worse very soon. Defeating 1639 in court now may almost be moot.

As posted many times before, we're in an echo chamber here. It's the 2M non-voters we need to reach. They may never 'wake up' until it's to late and their opportunity to make a difference is long since gone.

With the massive corruption and deceit of the left, I bet everyone voted, the left simply cheated and no one is holding them accountable.

Tossed ballots, dead voters.. you name it Im sure the fascist liberals in WA did it. Its like that all around the US.

Thats the very same with Oregon, washington, multnomah and pretty much our north western block dictate. Tillamook and Columbia are seen as our pivot counties.

All of central and eastern oregon is blood red consistantly.

"All of the kings horses and all of the kings men couldnt put humpty dumpty back together again"

This exactly!! Not sure what it was like up north but down here you would have to be an idiot to not notice the signs and inform your self.

This is another BIG issue i'd like to have federally investigated. The more keeps coming out the more I keep asking how long we continue to allow it and why nothings being done short of military tribunals.

Id want the same if it were other parties involved too, just right now it happens to be team blue. Not all of them are bad but a bulk majority are really sullying it.

As for the grass roots. Its damned effective, much like how guerilla warfare tactics beat conventional warfare. The problem now is that we are being openly mocked on anything right of center and doing 0 about it much like with those who dont vote for reasons listed in another post above.

This year especially.. it seems like its just all getting swept under the rug. No oversight and no accountability anywhere.

My household voted "NO" to I-1639...but with that said...

I did talk to "a lot"* of gun owners who really didn't have a clue as to the far reaching consequences of the initiative..or just plain didn't care as they didn't like AR rifles and such , and felt the initiative wouldn't affect them and their guns.

A better untied front as gun owners is needed as well as a far better public image.
Anytime you can combat the stereotype of the racist , fearful , slob gun owner is a win...this needs to happen more often and fast.
Andy
*"a lot" as in often and with as many gun owners as I could ...but I really couldn't give you any real numbers here....

With how these initiatives are written and the all to common "Uneducated voter" it's pretty easy to pull the wool over on folks.

An uneducated electorate will be this Republic's demise...Sadly we're witnessing it.

Huge problem.
The leftists as a whole, vote en bloc; because they are collectivists.

The conservatives, as a whole... don't. They're for individualism. They're for other matters. They truly cannot get unified, unless something, somehow, gets them to vote en bloc. But what could make them? we seem to be mostly "just leave us out of this, leave my family and my well being alone, and I'll leave yours alone!".. I fear it would take something much more serious than the draconian Californian style laws... something like say... a massive, door to door, confiscation and publicly executing enemies of the State.... in other words, the return of a Soviet style Socialist state, only waving an American flag in tatters.

This is what i greatly fear. Conservative ideals and people are slowly decreasing in numbers as the years go on. The younger gens are more apt to voting under status quo. Slowly demographics shift as does the mindset of influence, now more rapidly that social media has more frequent access. Seems like no matter how many facts and revision lessons you throw at it it has no effect en mass. People will wake up but only when its too late to really stand up and push back.

Theres too much to lose people fear loss of job/status/social/financial/family they have worked for. If only they could now see how bad things truly are...

As long as people exist and so do free will and freedom of thought there will always be conflict. times change and so do friends and enemies. Yesterdays good can become tomorrows evil. The struggle will continue so long as good men do nothing.

Good post. Thankfully someone other than myself gets it!

Conservatives hate government but gladly live with all that it has done to make their lives easier. Only opposing it when it doesn't.

Liberals live for government, they work with it, create industry within it.

Hard to explain to folks stuck in their ways.

No offense to baby boomers, but once you are gone, things will get a bit more interesting. New generation conservatives aren't as stubborn as the older ones, and I hope for my sake we come together and start playing the game on equal terms.
