I always pronounce it pack meyer, like Fred Meyer. Just watched a clip from the Shot Show and the guy in the Lyman booth pronounced it that way as well. (Pachmayr is owned by Lyman)

Has anyone call their office? I bet they know how to pronounce their own name
I just tried this, but, alas, the voice mail system didn't say the word. They did, however, say Lyman, who, evidently, owns Pachmayr. :p

As to the original question, I've always pronounced it Pack-Mar. I'm pretty sure because my father said it that way. Correct? No idea. 🤷‍♂️

He don't know either. He's just repeating what he heard.

Not unlike my own name. I say it how my Dad said it, but before Ellis Island, it was very possibly not only pronounced different, but was likely a completely different name.

Now how 'bout Garand? It's unlikely that 10% of knowledgeable shooters pronounce it correctly. So, the incorrect pronunciation has become the norm.

:)

Same goes for Camp Lejeune.

I have a 5 letter last name. My grandfather was 100% French and I've only heard it pronounced correctly one time in my life. And that was from a French woman who was visiting when I ran into her in Oklahoma back in 2001. She saw my name on a name plate and greeted me with the correct pronunciation. I was taken aback at first 'til I realized her accent was real. :)

Edited for spelling and correct grammar!

Lapua anyone? :p

Someone asked the same question about that a few years back. I remember I wasn't sure how to pronounce it even after listening to the foreigners in the Youtube videos say it.
