Thanks for the correction, updated.Well it is actually spelled PachMAYR but I have always heard it pronounced (and as well myself)
Pack - Mar.
Pack-meyer as in Fred Meyer is how I have always heard it said.
ThisI always pronounce it pack meyer, like Fred Meyer. Just watched a clip from the Shot Show and the guy in the Lyman booth pronounced it that way as well. (Pachmayr is owned by Lyman)
I just tried this, but, alas, the voice mail system didn't say the word. They did, however, say Lyman, who, evidently, owns Pachmayr.Has anyone call their office? I bet they know how to pronounce their own name
No one works in the office anymore silly! It's all from the home now.Has anyone call their office? I bet they know how to pronounce their own name
Same goes for Camp Lejeune. He don't know either. He's just repeating what he heard.
Not unlike my own name. I say it how my Dad said it, but before Ellis Island, it was very possibly not only pronounced different, but was likely a completely different name.
Now how 'bout Garand? It's unlikely that 10% of knowledgeable shooters pronounce it correctly. So, the incorrect pronunciation has become the norm.

Actually, I did look up the German pronunciation, and it is as you said...I would pronounce it sorta like /pock-mire/.
Prolly more of a Scando- Germanic pronunciation.
I always said Lop-Wa .Lapua anyone?
Someone asked the same question about that a few years back. I remember I wasn't sure how to pronounce it even after listening to the foreigners in the Youtube videos say it.
The nearest I could get to the video I saw was luh pwa, which is close to lop wa.I always said Lop-Wa .
I hear other say Lop-oo-uh .
