We didn't see any buck. Lots of Doe, lots of bedding and well worn trails and fresh poop. But no antlers in 7 days of hunting. We hunted in the McKenzie and Siusilaw units.

    I meant Western General buck.

Next year I'll just be putting in for doe tags. I would have filled that within the first hour of hunting with a fairly big doe.

there is always general season. If you did not get your controlled tag you can always hunt west of the cascades.

I just figured that most people weren't going to be able to hunt during the week.

Gallogiro, have you had any luck this season?

I've been hunting one area for the last for or five years. There is one big buck in there, but he ain't stoopid! I kicked him out of his bed twice, but never got a look at him. Saw his very fresh big tracks both times. The elk (which I watched at archery distance) probably messed it up some for me, but I'll be back next year. If I hadn't been so restless I would have saved more vacation time for this week. Next year I will.
Friday we head to North Powder to hunt elk. Can't wait!

The only buck I saw I missed, but I'm hunting to the last day.

I haven't seen anything so far this year as far as bucks go. I've seen quite a few doe's and plenty of sign, but zero antlers. I too will be applying for a doe tag next year.

I think we're going to try bird hunting this year, so maybe that will make up for no deer.

Mind saying what unit your son got his buck in, or was it private property?
