She says this on CBS segment

D.C. police chief to public: If you can, take down active shooters

"If you're in a position to try to take the gunman down, to take the gunman out, it's the best option for saving lives before police can get there."

So, how does she expect folks to 'take them down'? Her own department is in league with the mayor in making it so difficult to own a gun for self-defense at home, even harder for concealed carry. So how are people supposed to do what she suggests? Maybe she realizes they can't actually protect their citizens?

Unless they're willing to change the laws in D.C., she should keep her yap shut. She better get her butt in gear and get her cops out there to protect all those unarmed citizens - the ones she helped create.

Just watched her interview. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, Anderson Cooper didn't address the very obvious elephant in the room of "how" people are supposed to take out an active shooter when the city of Washington D.C. doesn't allow people to be armed for just that purpose??!!

Hypocrite. Hypocrite. Hypocrite.

She will remain so until she and the others work to reverse the ridiculously restrictive and draconian anti-gun laws in D.C.

Nope, not a chance. Really wish I could believe the left would ever start to get a clue. Really, really wish.
Just like the right, just like 99% of the populace, they will believe what they are told to believe instead of thinking for themselves - right or wrong.

It is easier to simply believe what you are told to believe than to actually think, much less seek out the truth.

So you're saying only her hairstylist really knows?

Secretary General of Interpol has been saying this since Kenya 2013.

In a twisted way, ISIS is playing into our gun loving hands. At least in the US. Europe is already talking about even more gun control.
I heard that report on the radio and about died laughing. The gun law they have really worked good didn't they.
Maybe display them in the correct language so the terrorists know they can't have those guns?

You might not expect this advice from a LEO. The usual call is to stay safe and call them.

But from DC

" In an upcoming segment of "60 Minutes," Metropolitan Police Chief Police Chief Cathy Lanier says it's unrealistic to think police will make it to an active shooter situation in time to save lives, so victims will have to prepare to "run, hide or fight."

"If you're in a position to try and take the gunman down, to take the gunman out, it's the best option for saving lives before police can get there," she tells Anderson Cooper for the segment, which will air Sunday at 7 p.m. on CBS.

Lanier said this is radically different from what police have often told people. But after a series of tragic domestic attacks – including the 2013 murders at the D.C. Navy Yard — it is clear that merely calling 911 and waiting for a response isn't enough."

I was busy watching Reality TV last night so I didn't see the segment.

CCRKBA challenges D.C. chief to lead on CCW reform

Reacting to comments from District of Columbia Police Chief Cathy Lanier last night during CBS' "60 Minutes" that citizens should take down active shooters if possible, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms this morning challenged the chief to help make that possible in the District by leading the charge to reform the city's restrictive concealed carry law.

The guys on the train in France didn't have any guns----and there have been several
incidents of passengers "taking down" a threat on a airliner. All it takes is a "he can't
get us all" attitude and the guts to go for it.

And there is the problem. For whatever reason we seem to have raised several
generations of sheep. Schools, society in general, whatever--- seems like all that is
left is a bunch of "duck, cover and whimper" types that willingly go to the slaughter
rather than resist.

And in these situations it's kinda 'die on you knees or die fighting back' cause there is a pretty good chance you will get at least shot
