3 gun competitors use underpowered loads to reduce muzzle rise.

While I suppose some 3 gun competitor somewhere has done this, I think it is extremely rare.

1) Comps require lots of expanding gas to work effectively.
2) There is a minimum power factor for rifle and pistol. You pretty much need to shoot full-power loads with the rifle to meet the minimum with .223.
3) Even if you could shoot lower power loads, most wouldn't because you need a stout load to push down steel targets at longer ranges and expose the flasher.
4) Low power loads in an AR cause reliability factors that competitors do not want to deal with.
5) Underpowered loads at lower velocity do not match up with common ballistic reticles - everyone I know tries to match their loads to work with their reticles rather than to gain advantage in recoil.

I'm not bored anymore so will leave it at that. : )
