New England Firearms SB2 .44 Magnum rifle.

P4010452.JPG

The barrel and stock set came from a law enforcement seizure in the Chicago area. The receiver/frame came from New Hampshire.

How many you got? Centerfire, rimfire, shotguns?
No rimfire.

5 shotguns: 2 x .410; .410 / .45 Colt; 28 ga.; 20 ga.

4 rifles: 2 x .223 Rem.; .35 Whelen; .44 Magnum.

One unassigned H&R Topper Model 88 frame/receiver waiting for barrel and stock set, to be determined.

The workers at the old NEF factory in Mass. called the "frame" (which we often call the receiver), the "Bay State" because of it's shape, which resembles the outline of Massachusetts.

I'm only interested in H&R Inc. single shots from the middle 1960's to 1986; NEF & H&R1871 1987-2007. I don't want to get tangled up in all the old stuff that H&R Inc. made. Just in the eras of my interest, there is a huge variety of models, sub models, gauges and calibers, etc. The Golden Era of my focus was 1991-1999 when James O. Garrison was president of the company. He was a business turn-around specialist and the company prospered well enough to get bought out by Marlin in 2000. During Mr. Garrison's time, many marketing enhancements took place. This would be a good case study for marketing students; how many flavors can you squeeze out of a simple, single shot long gun?

Needs 10" cut off and a can added!
There was an SB2 model made with in 7.62x39. It was made late in Marlin tenure, around 2006 but may have been continued under Remington, I'm not sure.

Under Remington, there was a Handi Rifle Blackout version in .300 AAC, it had a 16.25 inch bbl., that was threaded on the end.

Had one of the HR AAC collaboration 300 blackout models back before getting into suppressors. One that I kind of sort of miss and slightly. Single shots and suppressors are a great combo. No action, we'll sort of, so a 16" barrel looks tiny, adding a can doesnt make it much bigger.

Now if Bergara would bring over the 9mm one they have over in Europe!
