Hello everyone. Just joined this group from Ireland, and find it very interesting.
I am a farmer and Auctioneer, do a bit of rough shooting, vermin control and try and hit a few clays most Sunday mornings!
Currently have a Mossberg 500 and a Beretta 391 Urika, plus a Tikka .223 and a little Kriko in .22 Magnum rimfire.

Not from Germany, Irish born and bred. Neckarsulm was where NSU built some of the most advanced 2stroke bikes of the 20th century. (Audi currently based in Ingolstadt, down in Bavaria)

Thanks for the welcome guys, appreciate it.
Lots of sporting guns in Ireland, majority of them shotguns, as a predominantly agricultural society until recently.
Most owners would typically have just a couple of guns, as each gun requires a licence.
Licence is renewed every 3 years and costs 80 Euro. That's about 90 to 100 dollars. So people generally keep a gun for decades.
Surprising number of farmers still have and shoot old H & R and Ivor Johnston single barrels from the 1920's and 30's. Originally bought by their grandfathers, and heirlooms now.

Oh yeah, there are an enthusiastic cadre of target shooters of all calibres, up to 308, the majority would shoot .22 in competitions.

No guns can be bought primarily for self defence, and pistols are only available for target competition purposes.

We're pretty wide open, with suppressors, full auto and short barrel rifles requiring special permits as you may know.
Concealed carry permits are easy to get for law abiding citizens.

If there'd never been an Ireland
There would be no Wild Irish Rose
And the shamrock never would be growin
Where the river Shannon flows.
If there'd never been an Ireland
What a poor world it would be.
