I shoot suppressed handguns with a Huxwrx or Rugged suppressor, & Holosun or Vortex red dots.

While cleaning my guns tonight, I noticed there seems to be some pitting/defect on the glass surfaces that I cannot remove.

I am new to suppressors.

Did the extra blow back cause these defects in the glass.

I ask this because when shooting, I can feel my face get blasted with particulate that does not happen un-suppressed.

Coulda caused it. Dunno.

I haven't noticed any pitting on our RD's when cleaning. They have gotten dirty tho, variable degrees depending how much shooting suppressed & what type powder.

If commercial, you might try other manufacturers.

Any decent glass should resist damage from a little carbon splatter. Depending on the type of gun a slightly stronger spring may restore the normal (unsuppressed) cycling timing so that less mist reaches the sight.
Good reply. I already did that. 22lb's.

I'm using mostly Magtech and S&B factory loaded ammo. Shooting by the case/s each month.
I don't know if pitting is the correct word but there are marks on the glass.

If the optic is located behind the ejection port you could get some impact from blow back and if you are feeling stingers on your face I'd bet that is happening. The only stingers I get with pistols + cans are from shooting a Marvel Unit 1 .22 upper on a 1911 lower, and only with the muzzle can screwed on. That blow back is coming back thru the slide. I have several other CF pistols and cans and have not encountered nor recall hearing of stingers. I have gotten droplets of black blowback nastiness on my red dot, face and shirt when shooting a wet pistol can.

What pistol is it?

Sounds like it...
Put a piece of clear saran wrap over the optic and test fire to see if its the blowback.

Ive been looking for a clear lense protector but can only find covers.
