An interesting take from a panelist that provides mentoring was that uniformed school resource officers and increased law enforcement presence in high crime areas contributes to crime and suspicion of authority.
What utter nonsense. Facts simply don't bear that out. Although it may increase apprehension and anxiety of criminal elements when more law enforcement is present, it sounds like that person has a bit of stockholm syndrome and identifying negative concerns of the criminal elements and transposing it against the positive and desirable affect that actually results.

IOW, viewing the issue from the wrong side of the aisle.

I mean... criminals love gun free zones, hate armed targets and tough on crime policies. From their perspective I'm quite sure you could say that tough on crime laws contributes to "their" suspicion of authority, too. :s0140:

What the facts show in cities across the U.S. is that putting boots on the ground and increasing focused LE efforts within a network of local communities/programs in high crime areas has a double digit positive impact on reducing the crime rates. Period!

It's media and parents that are failing the youth of America.

If they really cared about reducing violence, they would stop enacting dumb liberal policies that allow violent criminals to flourish in our cities and on our streets.

Glaringly lacking was any mention of responsibility, accountability, and consequences for their actions on the part of criminals. I sure hope this whole thing isn't and exercise in "it takes a village" social programs that do absolutely nothing to address the real problem.
Thanks for the info..you're a better man than I. I'm pretty sure I would have lost my patience and been escorted out when they continued to ignore the real issue. Consequences.

You guys don't get it. The situation we are in has been created on purpose. They want the violence to happen. They want the public scared and agitated. They want the violence so bad that you'll beg the State to come in heavy handed. But they won't go after the criminals. They'll use their Praetorian Guard police to further erode your rights. this is called Anarcho Tyranny. Have none of you read Rules for Radicals or the familiarized yourself with the Cloward-Piven Strategy?

Most every time that you read up on a shooter, they have previously committed violent crimes, yet are still out walking around.
It's almost like this is being orchestrated. The means "people dying" justify the ends "gun confiscation."

The powers that be are pretty sick to sacrifice human life for more power.

I went to a doctor appointment recently - and once again, I was met at the entrance by a man who passed a metal-detecting wand around me while asking if I had a weapon.

So I had a little conversation with him. He seemed like a reasonable man who just needs the income he gets from doing this job.

During our short talk, he told me that he's not allowed to carry a weapon. So, he's the sacrificial lamb… the first person a do-bad will shoot before they kill everyone in the building.
I had my first appointment recently at a clinic affiliated with the Salem Health network since they adopted their no weapons/security screening policy. Had to pass through a metal detector in the foyer. Just inside the door sat 2 "security guards" at a table, one male, one female. Both were unarmed, obese, and appeared totally bored and half asleep.

What a joke! The only thing this new policy assures is that if someone enters with malicious intent, there will be no one there to stop them.
I sure hope this whole thing isn't and exercise in "it takes a village" social programs that do absolutely nothing to address the real problem.
What was this town hall meeting supposed to accomplish, may I ask, other than provide the local papers the opportunity to print another pre-written article on the need for more gun control?

I've contended for some time that if they actually REMOVED criminals from society that gun deaths would plummet. Their excuse is that prison is cruel. Or "traditionally marginalized peoples" would be incarcerated at a higher level. There's never mention of prison not being just to punish, but to, maybe more so, keep the honest, non criminals, safe from the criminals!
WTH is so difficult about that?
