Most of the "gun violence" is in known crime areas.. where for some reason despite each county hiring more cops and raising their pay and pensions.. oddly enough they don't send more cops there during key crime hours.. no instead they have moto-cops and suburban cops ticket people in the morning before work and right after school gets out.. why? Because minor moving violations make the counties money.. and instead of applying those cops to key crime areas during key crime times, they are too busy ginning up money for the county in the low crime hours in fairly safe areas.. busy ticketing people they know will simply pay the fine(s) because they have jobs and families to get to..

Oh and let's not forget about political catch and release or "they don't have enough money we can extort, so let's shuffle them out of the judicial system as quickly as possible" game that just keeps criminals on the streets without so much as a slap on the wrist.

And to think simply having those same revenue generating task forces applied to key crime areas during key crime hours.. suddenly a whole lot of "gun crime" would be halted.. or solved. Then again, counties tied to corrupt money can't have that.. because solving problems dries up funding in this era. Inflated admin salaries don't get those big continued bucks, those pointless studies don't get the same funding.. lots of corrupt cogs in the corrupt machine suddenly halt when problems actually get solved.

Meanwhile they (our government officials) stoop to banning guns or proposing to ban guns as if that stops the violence of human nature, which will continue with or without firearms and most likely will get far more brutal in the long run once firearms are banned. It'll be something that never goes away. This world is not a utopia no matter how many politically pandering flags you fly outside of a government building or how many laws you pass restricting citizens rights to self preservation.
Spot FRAKING on! :s0155:

BTW, although I applaud those going into the lions den, If you counter the (obvious) agenda at this, "town hall meeting" you'll be shouted down and/or escorted from the premises because the anti's will feel "unsafe".

This is exactly why need people to get involved in order to change the narrative. The left will continue to blame guns instead of the criminals unless we do more to change this.

Getting involved at this level is a good start. There is still a crap ton of work to do, but we need to get involvement at the community level and be visible.
I'm not suggesting we do nothing. But you do realise that we are grossly outnumbered in this state by broads who write garbage like this:

Hello,

I'm writing in lieu of attending tonight's work session. I am doubly interested in this
issue given that the City and the County are working on this together. There's
strength in numbers!

Please know, I am convinced our forefathers had no idea of the modernization of
weapons of war. Given the changes since the second amendment was written, I
want you to know that I'm against weapons of war in the hands of non-military
persons.

When the second amendment was written, we had no military industrial complex.
We now do. Back then, the militia was necessary; now it's not. Applying the 18th
Century law in the 21st Century makes our lives more dangerous.

Please do what is necessary to rectify this issue, once and for all. Hunting is one
thing; open carry by those who threaten average Americans is another. Ban bump
stocks, AR15s, any AKs, number of rounds any gun can shoot, and add age and
health limitations, as well as criminal status including those charged though whose
trial may not have occurred to date. Feel free to add anything you think is important
that I may not have thought of as I write.
They hate you, and they don't care what we have to say on the issue.

So yes, let's get involved. But let's also be realistic about our chances of defeating the increasing number of gun control initiatives and the snobs who support them. To say the outlook is bleak is an understatement.

What a load of crap.

They will NEVER change, until it's too late.

All of the information anyone needs is available online. But it doesn't support their insane agenda.

And yet, they still keep creating "gun-free zones"….. The murderers must love these lunatics.

I went to a doctor appointment recently - and once again, I was met at the entrance by a man who passed a metal-detecting wand around me while asking if I had a weapon.

So I had a little conversation with him. He seemed like a reasonable man who just needs the income he gets from doing this job.

During our short talk, he told me that he's not allowed to carry a weapon. So, he's the sacrificial lamb… the first person a do-bad will shoot before they kill everyone in the building.

Nuts. I'm going to buy more ammo.

But for every one Anti that writes a letter like this, there are several thousand "pro 2A" people who do nothing. It is still a small number of vocal Antis that "outnumber" us.

A few highlights from the Salem report...none surprising:
  • 64.9% of shooting suspects have a prior felony conviction
  • Average number of prior arrests by shooting suspects, 6.9 (3.7 for felonies), the numbers for the victims are higher...just like Portland
  • 65% of the homicides occur in 11% of the city's area
  • Just under 20% of suspects are juveniles
  • About 20% of suspects and victims are unhoused
  • They minimize the importance of gangs by saying only 17% of shootings were "gang on gang" but 49% of all shootings involved gang members (known gang members so this number is higher).
Yet when you tell them that in the past 10 years, gun laws in Oregon have become massively more restrictive, while drug laws have become equally more permissive, effective law enforcement has been reduced (through legislation and the "defund" movement), prosecutions in many areas (e.g., the Schmidtshow in Multnomah) have been greatly reduced, criminals are let out for serious violations, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...what is their response?

It's the gun's fault.

This lack of critical thinking skills is really closer to a mental illness. Seriously.

Everything he said. I don't know who coined the term 'woke mind virus', but it's spot on.

I really appreciate your enthusiasm but not so much your reasoning. The anti's are immune to pesky facts. The objective is civilian disarmament and they have no intention of allowing reality to stand in their way. That's my vew.

That said, should you find the opportunity to speak with someone open to persuasion by all means do so.

The author of that mentally shallow drivel that you quoted will eventually own nothing, be compelled to eat bugs, and WILL be happy (Klause Schwab has said it WILL be so)….. right up to when they reach the mandatory "cut-off age" (that Klaus and friends are exempt from) and gets directed to report to their designated "environmental over-population control center" for termination and processing into renewable fertilizer and/or food for the bug farms.

Ya know…. "circle of life" stuff.

FRAKING MORONS, all of them!!

The dissolution of the gang task force is behind most of the gun crime in Salem, and most of said crime is confined to certain neighborhoods and certain demos i.e., single men under 30 dealing in drugs.

Neighborhood social media outlets (like the Ring Doorbell app) are making it sound like a suburban warzone when in fact Salem is not a warzone. Every night some idiot posts something about "gun shots fired!" whenever teenagers are playing with fireworks, or a souped up Honda backfires. And of course a dozen other idiots respond "I heard the gunshots too!"
"souped up hondas" Lmfao, goddamned wet fart rolling up the street

If you do go to this "Hen Party" of Cluckers, remember, the Red Shirts are all primed against you, they know a few of you will be showing up, so they are all ready to go, they will ether block you from speaking at all, or will have one of their most senior public speakers ready to refute anything you say! Remember, facts do not matter, they will just scream loudly, make claims about how having a Vagina makes them superior to you, and then loudly cheer as you are escorted out by armed security!

If I were still in Salem, I would go, just to gather the intel for later use against them, as they will surely be gathering on you!
Remember, facts don't matter to them, so this little "Hen Party" will be a very one sided event!

100%. These people don't want to hear anything we have to say. They would rather die than be wrong. Meanwhile we live under expanding and increasingly onerous restrictions and laws. Every year they throw more dirt on our casket and social problems continue to proliferate. These people say they care about "saving lives" but they do not. People like this do not value life. They value libertinism and easy living. We are in their way. That is what this is really about.

If they really wanted to solve the problem of violence, they would enact a zero tolerance policy on bullsh*. Since libertine people exist in the ecosystem of bullsh*, that is the last thing that they want to happen.

gangs and people who do not belong in the USA? In the last 3 years there sure has been a massive increase in gang related graffiti, and a obvious demographic shift.

I attended the town hall last night. There were five panelists including police chief Womack. The panel went straight to the juveniles that are involved in 18% of the shootings. Most panelists agreed that there is more "community involvement" needed. They centered on having mentoring and activities for juveniles.

As far as the firearm part of the discussion, Chief Womack said that most forearms used in crimes come from straw purchases or are purchased on the street. Many are not originally registered here but come from other cities.

An interesting take from a panelist that provides mentoring was that uniformed school resource officers and increased law enforcement presence in high crime areas contributes to crime and suspicion of authority.

There was an important bit of information from a woman that had lived in Chicago around gangs. She said that gang related graffiti can easily result from increased activity and rivalry. Removing that graffiti within 2 to 24 hours is critical.

Salem police has a Community Violence Reduction Initiative. Here's a link on the City of Salem web site. Looks to me like they really haven't done much yet, just spitballing.

Glaringly lacking was any mention of responsibility, accountability, and consequences for their actions on the part of criminals. I sure hope this whole thing isn't and exercise in "it takes a village" social programs that do absolutely nothing to address the real problem.

"Broken windows" theory. Works, however there is far more to it than simply "cleaning up the mess".

Arrests for anything arrest-able, commitment from DA to prosecute everything prosecute-able.

Catch & release is a joke & likely pretty offensive to LEO's as well.
