again my friend your position on this whats responsible argument is weak. Instead of putting our energy and resources into laws that criminalize victims why dont we create laws and legislation that expand these gun safety programs. Make gun safety classes free for anyone who wants one regardless of CHLs or whatever. Im sure the Democrats would love to cover that with more taxes certainly we can do this....

Let's be clear. I dont want gun owners punished for getting their guns stolen.

Bur for that to happen they:
1. Have to fail to comply with law.
2. Leave their vehicle unattended someplace car growlers won't be caught.
3. Actually get broken into.
4. Not report it, or report your earlier noncompliance.
5. Have the gun used in a crime within 2 years.
6. Have the police actually find the gun.

Seems like you have a good shot of blowing off the law and never being punished.

FIREARM STORAGE AND TRANSFER
(Definitions)

SECTION 3. (1)(a) An owner or possessor of a firearm shall, at all times that the firearm
is not carried by or under the control of the owner, possessor or authorized person, secure
the firearm:
(A) With an engaged trigger or cable lock;
(B) In a locked container;

Section 2 subsection (2) "Container" means a box, case, chest, locker, safe or other similar receptacle, including,
within a vehicle, a glove compartment, enclosed trunk or center console, equipped
with a tamper-resistant lock.

(A) A key or combination to the trigger or cable lock or the container is readily available
to a person the owner or possessor has not authorized to carry or control the firearm.
(B) The firearm is a handgun, is left unattended in a vehicle and is within view of persons

The vast majority of gun owners do not belong to gun forums, and have no idea that the law changed and now requires them to lock up their guns at home and in their vehicle. However a liberal prosecutor will be happy to charge them for an unintentional act because they are an evil gun owner. While the same prosecutor will not bring charges against the criminal who broke in and stole a firearm. And even if charges were brought, the liberal judge would just give them a slap on the wrist. Why do you think there are so many break in's? They know they won't get in trouble, no consequences. Steal a car, steal a gun, burglarize a house, shoplifting are now all forgiven acts and you won't be charged.
We now live in a lawless society due to the liberal cradling of criminals.
Those who are law abiding are now second class citizens with diminished rights.

Interesting that the insane idiots in California didn't have him prosecuted and in prison. Wouldn't be surprised that they go after him in civil court based on the ludicrous case of Bodine v Enterprise High School… lawyers, lawmakers and politicians are the real problem with this country.

Funny how ignorance of the law is not a valid defense and yet the number of laws an ordinances that cover one's daily activities are far too extensive for that to be practical.
