So I ordered a gun from a online retailer, got a email this morning it may not ship for 7-10 business days. That is going to make it impossible most likely to get before we go communist. If I don't cancel order and it gets to my FFL in the 4/14-4/16 timeframe what happens to the gun I legally purchased? Not even sure if there's a legal way to buy a gun after 4/16? Any thoughts?

If for any reason you don't pass a background check. The receiving FFL can send it back to the shipping FFL. You will likely take a hit with some type of restocking fee. It's a pain in the arse for all parties.

As always the real answer to things like this is ask BEFORE you order something. Since that ship has sailed the next people to ask would be the FFL you are having this sent to. What anyone here tells you really means nothing.

Depends on the gun. If you have a good ffl he will give you the mags. If you have just an ok ffl, he will give you the gun without the mags. So worst case scenario is pretty minor. Buy extra mags today for insurance woudl be my suggestion.

The only variable imo is the mags. It's not an issue of being able to get the gun (unless I guess if you had some ultra paranoid ffl like sportsman's? Or something but the chance of that is low).

Call the FFL (don't email). Explain your situation. Offer to pay an additional fee for expedited service and shipping.

Worst case, ask them to ship it without the magazines.

Not shipping for 7 - 10 day may indicate that they do not have the item in stock and are ordering it from the distributor.
Some online realtors never ship before 7-10 days. For example palmetto and locked loaded. Bought numerous guns from both and has always been 7-10 days for me.

Palmetto is prioritizing orders to oregon now. Know of a pistol received 3 days after placing the order.
Wow that's good. I wish they had done it last 2 weeks. It took them about 10 days to ship my rifle. Probably will be in next week cuz it's slowest transportation. I order there a lot but I sure dislike how slow they are.

FYI that NW Armory, most of their distributors ship super fast. Yeah you might pay a little more than what you can get it for from an online retailer, but the speed makes it worth it. Last three guns I have ordered off their website with delivery/pick up up from Milwaukee location, their distributor ( who is on the east coast) every one of them was shipped 1 day overnight delivery. I ordered a revolver Monday, and it arrived this AM. Super impressed!

Order is from Palmetto. Customer service was lacking this morning. Gun only comes with one mag but I bought 8 scorpion mags elsewhere so even if I don't get mag not a huge loss

Gun Mag Wharehouse is still shipping as of today.

I was told by an employee at a gun store that the permit to purchase could go into effect immediately after 4/12. Are we absolutely sure about the July 2026 date? If so, that would be amazing

If that was the case the State of Oregon can write me a check for said fire arm. Or one could sell it to a buddy in a free state, pay the transfer and visit friends in Idaho.
