I just posted this to FB and wanted to hear opinions from this community that I newly discovered and have come to love.
"A guy, to whom I sold a couple pistols, came back into my store today and we got to talking. He told me something that I've already known but I just want to get it out there.
GUN CONTROL TO ME MEANS THAT PEOPLE NEED TO CONTROL THEIR GUNS.
If a new bill was to be proposed making it so that every firearm owner in the United States had to have a safe and store his/her weapons in it I would whole-heartedly vote for it. I believe that there are many irresponsible firearm owners who give us a bad reputation as a whole. Guns need to be locked up (minus a pistol in the nightstand with a trigger/cable lock) and children and everyone who have never used a firearm need to be taught, not just the fundamentals, but to be proficient with the use of basic firearms.
Adam Lanza went to a gun store several days prior to the SHES tragedy to purchase a rifle and was told that he needed to pass a background check in order to buy it. He walked out empty handed. He then murdered his mother with her own guns and the rest is history.
My point is that I believe that we, together as a nation, need to raise the standards of firearm ownership-not lessen the firearms we own."
