Gooseneck road area is now open, still has fire restriction, no metallic targets, no incendiary ammo, and no explosive targets (Tannerite). Fire danger level is Low according to the ranger stations. New sign up at the fork saying Cooperative Law Enforcement emphasis area, both US Rangers and local LEO (County sheriffs)

Are you able to dispersed camp up there? I'm thinking about just staying the night in my car one night especially since it seems there's been less activity up there because of new signs.

I can't get a firewood cutting permit because of the Government shutdown. Maybe I'll cut anyway...quietly!

Heads up; started about 20 minutes ago according to PolkCo Scanner and at the 2200 block of Gooseneck Road according to YCM (not sure who that is). Expect the whole area to be closed to target shooting anytime now :s0054:

My first trip out to Gooseneck was a pleasure. Found a great spot with a good berm, easy visibility to any approaching roads and nothing behind the berm but forest. Area had a bit of garbage but not terrible; I managed to collect one bag of leftovers and half a coffee can of brass. Only saw one other car today and didn't hear anyone else shooting. Only restriction on the signs was no metal or explosive targets. Nice area and convenient to Salem- will be back!
