Not sure this is a great idea but...

@wired, I just started another thread asking about a discontinued part I need printed for a Winchester 1400 in 20ga. The carrier release is the weak part in these shotguns and there is significant demand for them. They were mainly made out of plastic, but a few were made out of metal. What would it take to print a bunch and sell them for like $40-$60 each? I don't have schematics but have one still on the shotgun to copy. I don't know anything about printing and what it'd take to replicate a part.

I'd need one of the originals for a pattern

Another member found a metal one that I'm going to purchase. I'll see what the worn plastic one looks like when I get it out of the gun. Could be a bit as I'm getting close to getting my transplant procedure the first part of July. I'll be able to start doing things again in late August.

3D Printers are a lot of fun to have and if you've got kids you can let them pick and make their own toys and it costs less than the fuel to go buy one. I've made a lot of toys and given them away as gifts. I've also made things to help organize my work areas and I've also made things for firearms, making snap caps is so much cheaper than buying them and you can make 30 of them for the cost of buying 4 of them.

What about soft-ish rubber ? I'd like to do some MAC suppressor wipes
If you have the right material and the correct extruder and settings you can make things using rubber and if you get the right extruder and settings you can even do metal. The default extruder that most come with can handle most types of soft material and hard materials with exception to specialty ones like metal and some rubber. It's best to check what your system is able to handle and than see what materials fall into your workable range and go from there.
