The US has more untapped oil than all of the rest of the nations combined. We have Alaska, the shelves along the Rocky Mountains, the Gulf, and the Atlantic and Pacific. We somehow are stupid enough to allow ourselves to be beholding to countries which hate us, and where war might break out and cut off our oil supply.

When our oil reserves are listed, they lie. They include only drilled and used wells. They don't include things we know about such as Anwar.

Where do you get your information from? America is NOT Saudi Arabia, and will never be. Any oil that is in the United States reserves is not going to come at $2.50 a gallon gasoline. You could be listing oil that is so difficult to drill that is known but the only way for oil companies to sell it at a profit is $7 a gallon.

With our massive oil consumption, and European countries having industrialized economies with a small fraction of oil consumption, even considering their smaller GDP levels, there is clearly a lot this nation can do to reduce its reliance on fossil fuel. I do know we have a ton of coal, but as far as crude oil goes, I believe more than half of the worlds major oil fields (which btw are mostly in Saudi Arabia, not America) are in decline, and they haven't made any new major discoveries since then. Unless we deflated the hell out of the dollar, I.E. going to Ron Paul's Gold Standard or something (Ron Paul would prefer to destroy our economy in the name of making prices "look" cheaper"), gasoline will never be cheap, ever again. Any oil that is discovered will have to be sold at much higher prices than what we are use to, for oil companies to take the initiative to drill for it.

So yea, whatever reserves we have discovered, are going to come in at between $5 and $10 a gallon when they hit the gas pumps. Doesn't matter who's president if thats the case, if theres no profit in drilling for hard to reach oil, such as oil shale, no one is going to produce it at a lower price.

Somebody better tell the drillers in ND and Texas that the Bakkan and Eagle Ford Oil Shale Formations aren't profitable at current pricing levels. The Unemployment rate in ND is 3.8%

Yes, we have massive oil reserves but the current admin wants to put windmills and solar panels on our cars so they will pretend our oil reserves don't exist while they throw up roadblocks with many agencies to prevent exploration and extraction. lots of folks into buying the Snake Oil that is being sold.

9. All political discussion must be directly related to firearms, gun rights, or the second amendment.

There are many different people here with many different viewpoints on various issues. Like religion, discussing these issues here is highly likely to offend and very little good can come of it. We need to be focusing on the things that bring us together (firearms), not the things that have the potential to divide us (politics).
