This is our GSD. Chevy is about five years old now. Three of my last four dogs have been GSDs but I believe she is the most pure bred I have had. Her instincts are just amazing. We have taught her the simple sit, shake, and lie down. She will not bark on command no matter what we have tried. When walking our local bike path she likes to walk on the dirt side with her nose down but once anyone else is near on the path she always puts herself i between us and them. Our only issue with her isn't that she is very protective of other dogs around us, particularly small dogs. That makes walking her a bit difficult but that protective nature is tough or even impossible to break. She is also very afraid of thunder and fireworks, just like every other GSD I have ever had. I have gotten very good at replacing windows, screens, and siding thanks to our surprise thunderstorms here in the northwest.
