Gas piston help on my SIG716

Well finally got my hands on my new sig. Reading the owners manual says to lube the gas piston. I thought I have read everywhere on the net to keep gas pistons dry and no lube. I always REM OIL my guns. I read the owners manual a few times it states to lube the gas valve body and pushrod and spring. Again I swear I have read a million times never lube gas pistons? Anyone have and imput.
