I don't have both myself, but I was recently in the same position and after looking into a bunch of comparison videos and reviews, I came to the conclusion that the differences are negligible and I went for the Athlon since it was so much cheaper (Bi-Mart in particular had a good deal on it). I've been quite happy with the Athlon so far, no regrets.

Similar story here, I settled on the Athlon due to price-they are basically the same thing. To say I'm impressed with it is an understatement. It just needs to be near the end of the firearm to work. The interface is easy enough I didn't need any tech support from the kids. I'd really reccomend the Athlon just due to the price. Garmin reduced their price point immediately after the competition released a viable option, that tells me they are concerned just how close they are.

I went with Athlon as well, I don't know what I'm missing from the Garmin, but I don't care. I just wanted to test some bullets I load.

I opted for the Athlon Rangecraft due to price and have used it for handgun and long gun loads. Has worked absolutely perfect so far. Easy setup / usage. I have no experience with the Garmin.

Everybody still happy with their Athlon?

I still don't know why I need chrono data but I would be more likely to use one of these over the bayonet style chrono I have now ( which I still haven't used).

I enjoy my Athlon, only wish I had got one sooner. Very reliable and easy to use, if I can figure it out anyone can.

I had missed this thread, 'til now. I had the opportunity to use the Athlon at my range when a member had one and invited me to try it. I'd never had any idea other than what the book says for what weigh bullet and powder. I thought the dang thing was way cool! I found I was running where I would have expected with my 9mm loads. Wifey has a butt-load of points on her Cabela's card and we were toying with the idea of getting the Athlon model. Just haven't don it, YET. Reading the above review gets me juiced up to do it now.

That "Bayonet" Chrono looks like a pain to use. And from reading, the Lab Radar has some serious limitations. Aiming difficulty for one. But it looks like maybe the competition has lowered the price on the Lab radar?

You too huh? Maybe my Blonde wife, being smarter in a lot of things, could help too? They noted in the review that the Athlon model isn't Android friendly? That might be an issue. Wifey uses an Android phone. I'd have to write down info as it came in if/when I wanted to save it. I just looked and it does work on android through the Athlon APP.

I've been continuing to use mine regularly and continue to be very happy with it. The fact that it's sooo much more convenient than other styles of chronographs makes me infinitely more likely to bring it out and use it; I used to have the kind you set up down range and shoot over, and I would never go back to that.
