Hi All,

I recently acquired a 20 ga. Savage Fox model B. I have owned many shotguns but this is my first double.

I have a question about how to store this shotty when in my safe. It's my understanding that the hammers reset upon opening and or closing. I read it should be stored in the fired position (relaxed springs) when in storage, either by manually tripping them (not exactly sure the process) or using snap caps.

Wondering if the experienced members here could be so kind as to clue me up with their answers/opinions.

Looking forward to using this next bird season!

Thank you much, Southpaw

I always released the hammers on high-end snap caps designed to withstand a firing pin blow.

How would you take the snap caps out without recocking the hammers? 🤔

Maybe use 28ga snap caps, point the gun up to drop the hammers and tip them barrel down to let them fall out! :)

Are A-Zoom metal snap caps good enough?
Re my post #7 (and I'm sure you will appreciate this!)
