The danger in hastily orchestrated, haphazard, unscientific and entirely anecdotal videos like this is that they promulgate an "axiom" that "flat base bullets are always more accurate than boattail bullets".

Absolutely NOT true in many, many sporting rifles. Not a few of which reside in my stable: fat barreled varminters and big game guns that thrive on boattails and shun flat base bullets.

The "vortex" or "uneven escape of gasses as the base" (or both at play) sometimes have no detectable effect at all.
I never said flat base are more accurate than boat tails.

I just posted a video of the differences that can occur because of the bullet shape effects on gas release at end of barrel.

My personal opinion is that flat base can have less precession at common short range BR competition distances hence their prevalence.

Personally, I think it is a multi-faceted phenomena that starts in the barrel with how the bullet obturates. Then, when the bullet leaves the muzzle, how it interacts with the gas overtaking the bullet. I think there are too many variables to really come up with any absolutes.

Close enough for coyote hunting...😂
