Totally! The cyanide traps are just not effective. With these they just aren't safe.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

They killed one wolf that was there to kill someones livestock with a Getter meant for a lesser wolf, the coyote, and the kids dog that did not belong chasing sheep in the first place. Turns out once passed the bS the getter was spent and the mix was dispersed by the time the kid got there or he would not have made the trip to the hospital.

If they were not trespassing on neighboring property or if they took time to read the postings, they were on there own property and called the trapper in themselves.
Believe me I have seen just how well these things work first hand.

Children have little concept of property lines, trespassing, or invisible borders. And don't even bring up "The parents should watch them more carefully" BS - parents cannot constantly be watching their children 100% of the time, they can provide boundaries, guidance, and discipline but they cannot be hand holding their kids all of the time.

A cyanide trap is a bad idea, period. Live trap the damn things, or have a person in the woods hunting the thing and shoot it - I'm fine with killing animals that pose a threat to livestock and people - but it should be done in such a way as to minimize the risks to non-targets.

Frankly I would shed no tears if every wolf in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho was exterminated - but if it were done, it should be done personally by hunters/trappers or game officers.

If a trap is big enough to injur or kill a dog/wolf/coyote it's big enough to pose a threat to people, and kids get curious. If my kid were hurt or killed by a cyanide trap - suing the person that set it may be the least of their worries - regardless of whose land it was, or who put it there. They are unsafe, and we've got better methods of target discrimination.

POSTED KEEP OUT!
I have a ranch that sees it's fair share of big game every thing including elk, bear, cougar, deer and just about everything else.
The public has people like you to blame for the gates being closed about ten years ago.

Having grown up in the country - I'll tell you first hand that such signs really don't mean much to kids, city folk, or animals. And violating such a sign shouldn't necessarily result in a death sentence for who or whatever commits the crime.

The first three pictures are what we wake up to in the mornings looking out the living room windows.

Read the above and we do press charges on trespassers every time we catch them.
If your dog is chasing my livestock you won't see it again either, with or without his escort.

I totally respect someone's right to not have their property tresspassed, but kids are kids. They should never be a desth sentence for someone wondering especially a child.

No different than the guy who just killed two people tresspassing on his property.
He will spend the rest of his life in jail.

Feds have free reign.

Or if someone set up a lethal trap for a burglar. Still going to jail.

Personally I would rather not have the Feds setting up poison traps. Or any other lethal trap on lands.

I don't like wolves any more than most farmers, but I would rather the farmer have the right to take care of predators than having some gung ho Fed with no accountabilty throwing down traps wherever they please.

Maybe so but kids will be kids and what kids do is explore. There are so many things that they don't know about and they want to explore. the "POSTED KEEP OUT" sign means nothing to young child. Even if it did, there is too high of a liability. It just takes one dog getting killed or one kid getting a trip to the hospital to have a serious issue and a lawsuit on their hands. Any type of trap where there is a deadly toxin involved should be more developed to reduce things like kids getting hurt from happening.

When I was a kid it was blasting caps and dynamite that took off the hands or killed a child. It seemed people left it laying around every ware. So our parents would teach us not to play with it or we would end up like johnny.

Many people today don't even take the time in some cases to raise there children correctly, they think it is the schools responsibility to do it for them, they have no respect each others privacy, property, nor do they want to be responsible for there own mistakes.

When something goes wrong the first thing they want to do is bring on a law suite.
No one wants to see a kid get hurt or killed no matter the reason. Funny how people in the city can keep there kids off the freeway but when it comes to industry or farming well that's another story.

I would agree but today there's no sense of community.
Back in the day you could explore. people were okay with their kids exploring and going all over the city just being home before nightfall or dinner.

Nowadays everyone is afraid of their own shadow and even young children scare them. (Maybe not a bad idea sometimes)

But your right in the sense that parent take no responsibility for children. It's everyone else's fault and not their bad childs or crappy parenting.

I still feel they should charge parents for their kids crimes until they are 21.
Then maybe people will raise their kids right or at least not have 10 kids they don't take care of or show love to.

I knew what signs meant when I was a kid, cause if I didn't and someone talked to my dad even if it was a month or more later,
I got my butt kicked.

Well then you and I are both lucky we know what signs mean. Unfortunately some parents don't do as good a job teaching their kids.
