Another favorite of mine...
20 gauge flintlock Fowler...George Laloux .

George Laloux and his factory made guns from 1834 - 1920.
I think this is a later as in 1900 era gun.
Be that as it may...it looks good...carries nicely and shoots well.
I have gotten grouse with this gun and one deer.
Load is :
65 grains of 2F , over powder card , greased wad...equal amount of shot , over shot card.
Or...
65 grains of 2F a .15 patch and a .600 lead round ball.

 I may have to repent fer covet'n thuss'in here.

 And while I am fess'n... I have favor'd eye on that Christopher & Johnson Butcher Knife that makes appearance from time to time.

This Tikka T3x .30-06 in a Manners stock has been a known big game killer.

The forend of a Beretta A400 with my former Toller, Porter. RIP.

Speaking only for myself..
I hunt...at times I kill an animal .
Killing is a natural byproduct of hunting.
There is no need to "soften" this into the word harvest..
Hunting needs to be done with respect....respect towards the land hunted in...and to the animal hunted.
For me...it is good to remember that killing can be a part of hunting...in any event it is not to be taken lightly or turned into something that it is not...
As in "harvesting"...since I am hunting...not gathering crops.

That said...
While hunting I also harvest....wild blackberries...blueberries...salmon berries...yum.

Most of the time I just go for a walk and come back with mushrooms you need a rifle in case they act up .

The Tikkas are sweet somehow I ended up with three in 338 WM and they were brutal with that plastic stock ! I put them in some B&C and wow made them pussy cats .
I've never felt the need to go bigger than the '06.

I'm not a long-range hunter though. I zoom in with my feet. Probably a side-effect of starting out as a bow hunter.

I don't do the long range thing 300 yards tops which is fair and have 200-275 gr rounds to take care of things ethically . It is like I said thy found me and absolutely love the Tikkas and don't understand why they bring the haters out .

A friend of mine would go hunting with his long time friends every year. I never heard of him shooting anything. He referred to it as "Taking my rifle for a walk".

My wife has two hunting rifles. One she got from her dad, the other from me. She's proud of her Savage 99 and loves the blonde treatment it got when I refinished it several years ago.
But her favorite is the Ruger 77MKII Compact I gave her as a birthday present. She's killed a couple of deer and an elk with it, so far.

Been awhile since I've hunted, for a variety of reasons, beyond occasionally dispatching a varmint around here. On a bit of a lark I took out an old favorite that I haven't shot in years. Grabbed an old box of shells and did some informal shooting.

Winchester 1894 in .30/30 WCF. Peep sights. It is the model before the annoying safeties. :)

Oh…just to show that not all of my guns load from the muzzle…. :D

My first gun ever.
A Wingmaster from 1962.
Given to me by my grandfather.
20 gauge , 28 inch barrel with a Modified choke.
I have taken :
Squirrels
Rabbits
Grouse
And one coyote
With this shotgun.

Mostly use 2 3/4 # 7 1/2 or #6 shot
The coyote was taken with #3 Buckshot

Hey Andy, are we finally gonna get together and do some grouse hunting this year?
I can bring the 20 gauges (my H&R Topper and my dad's 1100 lightweight).
Let me know.

Latest pic of my H&R's. Includes the 16 gauge H&R Model of 1908 that was my father's father's shotgun...

They told me that Van Zandt Dike would be open....I will check that out on the 15th....
