Well, it is New Years. How about your favorite and not so favorite cocktails? I'll get this party started.

Honestly, I keep mine pretty basic:

  • Gin & Tonic: 1/2 quality Gin, 1/2 tonic water, a lime wedge, and done.
  • Dry Martini: 2½ ounces Gin, ½ ounce dry Vermouth. Garnish with an olive.
  • Absinthe: Glass of Absinthe, pour cold water over a sugar cube, through an Absinthe spoon.
  • TnT: 1/2 Tequila, 1/2 tonic water, dash of bitters, and a limed wedge.
  • Tom Collins: 3 parts Gin, 2 parts lemon juice, 1 part sugar syrup, 4 parts carbonated water. (Or just simplify it with Tom Collins mix.)
Ones that are a no go:
  • Pretty much any foo-foo drink.
  • Anything involving the two words "pumpkin spice". Had a beer, well a couple sips of one, so labeled at an office party (free beer and how bad can it be?) and, um yah, never again.
  • Most, though not all, brown liquor drinks. Though I did use to do the Bourbon Supremo (Bourbon and tonic water, with a lemon wedge) back in the day. (And, yes, I'm aware that is sacrilege to Bourbon purists, but it was the cheap, Old Crow stuff.)
  • Whatever is the current obnoxiously trendy cocktail. If not at home, I do my drinking at dive bars, casinos and a private club, so I usually don't see that often these days, thankfully.
How's about you pallies?

I'm simple.

Few cubes of ice, with a few ounces of Vanilla Crown.

Or...

Few cubes ice, topped off with Bayleys.

Gin and tonic used to be my "blackout" drink. Back in my 20s, also back in Nevada where bars and drinking was a hobby, if I got to ordering Gin and Tonics one might say I was too far gone.

Happy New Year my NWFA peeps!

Back in the day I'd drink Bud beer & Whiskey straight, any whiskey....
Now I like GOOD whiskey and GOOD scotch, no more bottom of the barrel rot gut stuff for me.
My favorite is Crown Royal XR... but like the Reserve as a maintenance drink.:s0140:
And for the record I never had any of those cocktails that required a straw in em....:p:p:p

I like old fashions made with Bulleit American frontier whiskey, though sometimes, if I really want to shake a leg, it's whiskey, neat. Just like the lawmen, hired guns and cowpokes of the old west did.

I'm kinda simple in my tastes...
Beer...all types and kinds....
Wine...I like a good tart red....
Whiskey ...Bourbon and Scotch being my favorites...And they are drank straight and neat...no water or soda or ice or...just in a glass , flask , jug , bottle....but don't add anything or its Bowie Knives at dawn.... :D
Andy

Jack/rocks. The standard go-to that's always okay. Better whiskies, neat, get extra points.

Other end of the spectrum? A fruity punch or citrus concoction. It's gross even without trying it.

Good Vodka, Club soda and lime. Club is not as sweet as Tonic water. Favorite Vodka better than
Grey Goose or Kettle One ? Stoli's Yes comrade. :)

Oh, straight drinks; wine, naturally. Tequila sometimes.

The reference to drinking straight and Bowie Knives reminded me of one of the 86 Rules of Boozing: "38. Drinking whiskey from the bottle in front of an open fire will increase your testosterone level by 25%."

(Honorable mention from that list; "55. If you think you are slurring a little, then you are slurring a lot. If you think you are slurring a lot, you are not speaking English". I'm cut off by my consort at the private club when my manner of speaking turns to, quote, "overly formal English, technobabble, and Spanish." I've installed a mental filtration system, but it isn't 100% yet. But I have faith in technology. :p)

Stopped drinking rocket fuel a few years ago and slug down only the occasional beer now (not especially picky about it, but refuse to buy cutesy named craft beer) and like dry white wine now.

Can't stand mojitos, back when, shudder.....

Good to really good Bourbon neat, or Scotch over crushed ice! Cheep stuff strait outta the bottle!
Top shelf 100% Blue Agave Tequila, bottle chilled in the freezer, 3 fingers neat!
Vodka, MUST be traditional Russian, the kind even Russians cannot pronounce, chilled in the freezer and served in a sterling silver shot glass, NO EXCEPTIONS
Rum, must be Bermuda Spiced and at least 12 years old!
Cognac, Remy 1738 is my go to, room temp in a sterling silver sniffer!
Red Wine, usually a chilled Robert Mondovi Reserve Cabernet 2003, still have two cases of it!

We will NOT discuss the stuff I will not consume, Fix Bayonets and defend your selves!

when i drank, my fave was a good single malt Scotch.
other then that I liked:
Snake bite. 2ozs of Yukon Jack and a spash of lime
Martini with bombay sapphire gin.
Gin and Tonic

Oh Gawd, someone just had to mention Snakebites!!!!:eek::eek:
Good times but more stupider than gooder times.... That bubblegum messed me up every time I drank em!!!
GOOD LAWDY there's some flashbacks wizzing by me right now....:s0168::s0168::s0168:

Though in a JD glass I promise it's vanilla Crown.

Hoping to make it to 12:00?!?!
