9-12 months on a pair of jeans seems pretty standard, unfortunately. I wear cinch jeans mostly that have a little stretch. I'm 32/36 and it's damned hard to find any consistency in sizing, and I like my jeans comfortable, fit well over cowboy boots and a bit of stretch for appendix carry. All those requirements seem to not be possible with real rugged jean.

Check out Duluth pants, they might be what you're looking for, they've worked great for me and I'm rough on mine.

Are the Duluth jeans baggy? Although I bicycle (off road) I still have the evaporating post-40 glutes. Most jeans now look baggy on me. I am also disqualified from even considering hipster jeans because I'm too bald to grow a man bun.

Not that I've noticed on the ones I get but I think they have those as well for people that like them but not sure, they have workout clothing as well.

Are EDC branded/marketed jeans worth it? Whether it be Vertex/ 5.11/ etc…..

I'm not talking tactical pants with a million pockets that scream gun. I'm talking strictly denim. I normally wear Ariat jeans which are fine but the last pair I have need replacement. I'm always open to trying a new brand. Ariat jeann may last 6 months - year for me before I blow out the inseams. I'm looking for a denim with some stretch that does not look tactical/bro vet. No skinny jeans and they have to fit over the shaft of a standard cowboy boot.

Any opinions are welcome. Thanks.

I wear Wranglers everyday. and with a J frame in the front pocket. The pockets are deep enough, and they cover the gun fine.
A couple things you can do to better cover the guns outline is
use a good pocket holster. I like leather but after carrying for a while they become molded to the gun so well that they no longer smooth the lines.
so try a padded nylon holster. Desantis, Galco, and other make good pocket holsters.
Or you can make a heavy pocket to smooth out the lines. using the Iron on knee patches they used to fix kids jeans with, wrap the pocket material and iron it down. then trim the extra off. it makes a quick and easy leather like pocket. it also keeps the gun from wearing through. Moms' uncle used to have a leather pocket sewn into his suit pants. that was in the days before a pocket holster was common. DR

I don't pocket carry. So it's not a primary concern of mine. I used work wear wrangler cowboy cut jeans. You're lucky to get a wallet in the front pocket they were so damn tight. Lol.

Exactly where I am. I like the Ariat M4 rebars with stretch. So far they are the best I have found.

The jeans I'm trying next will be Prison Blues. Not sure about the Portland area but I see them at Wilco semi close to me.

I like and own several of the Duluth Trading cargo shorts, good strong pocket liner canvas in the batch from last year. I usually poke holes in pocket material from keys or holsters. This latest batch is holding up nicely.

Another vote for Wrangler's, after years of Kirkland and Levi's, I found my way back to Wrangler's. I often pocket carry a J-frame as DR and find the pockets to be deep and adequate for such carry. And there's sufficient ballroom…

Glad they work for someone, I always manage to wear a hole in them in less than a year, same with Levi's.
