Subject: PLEASE OPPOSE HB 1315

Representatives,
Please oppose HB 1315. This bill will punish law-abiding citizens but will not have any impact on crime or safety. CPL holders are the most law-abiding people in the country--even more law abiding than police.
• Nationally, the number of concealed handgun permits has increased 304% in the last 13 years. Yet firearm homicides have dropped 6.2% during the same time.
• In Washington, the number of concealed pistol licenses has increased 163% in the last 7 years. There has not been a similar increase in firearm homicides.
• CPL Holders are more law abiding than police officers. Nationally, the crime rate for CPL holders is 1/10th the rate of police officers.
• You might hear that firearm safety is a national epidemic. However, there are only 546 accidental deaths by firearms nationally, or 2 accidental deaths per million people. But this pales in comparison with 118 automobile deaths per million people.
Where is the problem that wasn't evident until now? Please, reject the false-flag of "gun safety." Prosecute criminals. Don't penalize law-abiding citizens. Please oppose HB 1315.

(Feel free to add your own points as well.)

While I will send it, you must realize that Dem's are a super majority in this state and are not going to entertain changing their mentally diseased minds. Socialism and Communism have never been defeated by emails or votes.

Hello,

I am writing to voice my opposition to training requirements for a concealed handgun license. Statistically CHL holders are extremily law abiding, and issues with them are extremily rare.

I moved here from CA where classes and fees exceeded hundreds of dollars every two years, and kept many disadvantaged people who have the most reason to carry from being able to protect themselves. The people who most need CHLs are those working multiple jobs late at night, or single mothers who can not out run or out fight an attacker, and they are the people who have the least amount of free time and extra money to spend on something like these classes.

I have experienced many of these state mandated classes in CA and OR, I can very confidently state they are are a waste of time and money.

People should be spending their time and money on private useful classes that teach you how to shoot, and the ethics of defending yourself, and many CHL holders voluntarily partake in these, myself included to the tune of thousands of dollars! However state mandated classes always become rubber stamp factories devoid of skill or useful information.

Regards,
Nic

I think they're one seat away from a super majority, but still, your point is well-made. I think that we're here because people like us haven't stood up.

I ran a number of signing locations for I-1094 to repeal I-1639 for about 6 out of the 9 weeks we had. I was SHOCKED at how many people didn't know anything about 1639. Some of them refused to talk to me on the way into the store, and then stomped back out to sign after they were refused the right to buy a 10/22. Gun counters said that about ½ of the people coming in to buy a gun didn't know what 1639 did to them.

I was SHOCKED at how many people were passionate about guns but weren't registered to vote.

I get it. I was mostly apolitical until 1639. I voted, but didn't really research issues in-depth.

Gun owners have traditionally felt like they just want to be left alone. And they've been discouraged by the changing of political winds. And so the anti-gun activists have been able to trot out their emotional stories of the whopping 539 people across the US who've been killed by accident and paint it as an epidemic.

The way we turn this around is by making a TON OF NOISE. And getting involved in politics. And getting all of our friends to join us in making a TON OF NOISE.
