Out shooting in the woods about a mile from my house this morning and found this.
A couple dog graves. Bowls, toys leashes laying next to them.
Might have been a favorite walking spot and a very loving owner....

BTW my RIA shot fantastically with a 14 # spring and the trigger adjustment I gave it.
It is shooting pretty tight from what I could see - I didnt bring a target as I just wanted to make sure it was functioning properly and I was just shooting at a tin can but could tell it was low.

Normally I'd say eff it and order a set of adjustable sights but I REALLY like the Novak style rear so I'm gonna go 'old school' and file down the front to bring POI up. When I get it on target I'll remove it, oil blacken it and reinstall it and re-paint the ramp.

The best, and only true friend I have had this century will be with me forever. Due to my shortage of friends, it was wise to buy our own tombstone in advance. Our dog's initials are carved on the back.

.45ACP is God's handgun caliber, and only made one mistake with creation.... God gave (good) dogs too short of a lifespan!

Wifey and I ran into something similar up near Mt Hood a couple years ago. I don't remember what the note secured to one of the logs said. But it was a large pile of wood/sticks that we figure had their pooch under it.

Unfortunately I have some on my property. Ill be adding more in the next 5 years.

Seems like the good ones get taken early.....had my best buddy and my work partner killed in front of me. Still messes me up

Took me 4 years of heart break to be open to a new dog.

This one has my heart as well and helped heal from my buddy of 17 years.

They are all different and with you all the time so loosing my dogs has been worse then loosing almost all of my family that have passed.

As I read this, my greyhound/shepherd mix is sleeping beside me on the sofa and farting in my direction. Gee, thanks. I don't expect my 13 y.o. Golden to make it to Christmas - he's been a great dog. #3 pooch is at my feet. Life is good.
Last time I went pistol shooting, it was just to keep practice with my Sig P230 carry. I was satisfied with the hits.

People who are not "dog people" will never be able to understand. People who are sure as hell do. I often joke I take better care of my dogs than myself. If I get badly cut I will often look at it and think, hell I can clean that up and glue it shut. :s0140: Even though I have top of the line insurance. Dog gets hurt? I am in the car off to the emergency Vet no matter the cost

About to be digging one. My old man of a bully is getting put down as he is dying. At this point I'm not sure he is going to make the vet appointment. I picked out a spot just a few minutes ago.

This is an awful feeling.

Ahhh... that explains the "issues" with the P320.... it's a P230 with lysdexia!

I buried my old cat Jaspurr in March. He was nearly 18 years old and had a good life. He was diagnosed with cancer in early January. We made him comfortable but when he started to visibly suffer, I hired a veterinarian to come to my house and ease him along. It was a very peaceful process.

Previously, I had gone out into the wooded north end of my property and carefully selected a grave site. I gathered some large rocks, of which there is no shortage here. I dug a deep hole and was ready. After the vet came and did her part, I wrapped Jaspurr in some fancy towels and placed him in the hole and covered him up. I placed the large stones on top of the grave. I sent away for an engraved plaque to place on a rock that I selected just for this purpose as a head stone.

I won't say I was without grief after this was over. But I'm pretty settled about it now. Two days after I buried him, I had a strong urge to go out, dig out the grave and have one last look at him again. But I didn't.

Jaspurr was the most personable cat I've every had. He was very tame, highly intelligent (for a cat), friendly, and devoted to me. Whenever he heard me land on the bed, he'd come on in and join me. He'd come up and lay his head down right on my arm. He'd follow me around everywhere. I got him as a kitten right before I retired in 2007, so we were together most of the time since then. I'll never have another cat like that. But then again, I don't have all that much time left myself.

I primarily shoot 9mm too, don't tell the baby Jesus on me!
You secret is safe with me!

With regard to 9mm in the 1911 it's not only the reduced recoil but the design & balance results in a very 'smooth' shooting firearm.

This RIA 1911 9mm MAY become my new, favorite gun to shoot!

I did the dog thing way back. A Doberman for 13 years before her hips went bad. Couldn't ever do a dog again. Had a one-eye cat for ten years that was messed up as a kitten before we got him at 4 weeks. 13 years later and we got another one-eyed cat. I get to treat him like a dog and he acts like a dog. It's damned hard to read these stories, and think about when he's going to get to "that" point. Daminals!
