I gotta admit, I stole that from Ronnie the Limo Driver.
Google it, if one dares and is open minded.
I'm not so sure one's mind is the part that needs to be open....

It's also known as a "dude-be-cool" stick.
I can think of better tools for that job...
NSFW. Language warning:
It is my understanding the weapon pictured in the OP is a Blackjack. Either way, I like them both but I tend to prefer impact weapons when it comes to "less lethal" options.

If I need a weapon, less than lethal isn't going to be an option.
1) Are sap gloves legal in WA?
2) "It's also known as a "dude-be-cool" stick."
I have it for ambulatory stability. Cool factor and whack/poke are way down on my list of reasons for a cane.
The best pistol in the world isn't much help for walking.

Yeah, the cops need such to subdue morons I won't be dealing with, since I'm not trying to stuff them into the back seat of a police car.
If they leave, that's all I wanted in the 1st place. If they actually attack me, then Mr. Steyr is available for help.
If I need a serious weapon most rikki-tik, the stick is for pushing back to gain time and distance to deploy something serious.
My dad had one of those, also had a leather Sap. Where he got them, I have no idea but he did have a family friend that was an old school cop. He also had a short club with Squad R carved in it that, rummer has it, he took away from some guy trying to steel his car! He was real fussy about his cars!
It used to be fairly common to see those in LEO's pockets. Lot of the uniform pants had 2 pockets on the back of the leg that were made to carry these. They still offer the pants but now they advertise them as pockets for a flashlight as few departments still allow the Blackjack or Sap.My dad had one of those, also had a leather Sap. Ah the PR-24, the impact weapon that made it as easy to hit yourself as the bad guy!I still have an old PR-24 (side-handle baton, tonfa) that I used to carry ...
