I've learned how to rebuild the catalytic platinum component that generates the heat. It is Much cheaper to rebuild it yourself than to spend 7 bucks at the hardware store for a new one.

1.) Take out the used up catalytic felt in the removable neck of the warmer.
2.) Get a decent sized compression spring at the hardware store. (69 cents) One about 1/4 inch in diameter. Trim it with wire cutters so that it is just a little longer than the space you are jamming it back into in the throat of the burner

3.) Shove the platinum wool in the spring with a pair of tweezers (wash your hands when you are done and do not breathe in the dust that you may get when handling the wool.)

4.) Fill your warmer and let the whole thing sit upright for 3 minutes.

Then fire it up.

You can get the platinum embers on line and for 16 bucks, you will have enough for the rest of your life.
