I don't even like the whole credit score game.Yeah I mean, Im sure there's some truth to that but I bet it's mostly just shop talk. I personally think someone would have to be oblivious to think that they aren't already adding to some micro registry every time they fill out a 4473. I'd get not going for a UPIN if you'd only ever done handshake deals, never filled out a 4473 or a Form 1 or Form 4, and never applied for a CPL in your state. But if your name is already on government paperwork forms I don't see an issue. That information definitely doesn't just vanish into thin air after they run you.
For me, I got the UPIN to avoid having to wait until the 3, 5, or 10 day (depending on dealer) hold before they can release it with no answer from NICS.
As a guy with a dozen registered NFA items I guess I'm not too worried about having a UPIN.
So I wasn't volunteering to be on yet another database.
We've all made multiple lists at this point anyway.
One of the stories I remember was that if I got a UPIN , my home was subject to search at any time for inventory of all firearms purchased using the number.
Seems pretty far fetched. Then again, that guy from Arkansas ( Clinton airport) probably didn't think he'd die full of Fed bullets in his own house. I wonder how his family's doing right now?
